The Atlanta-based Peach Bowl began in 1968 as a fundraiser for the Lions Clubs of Georgia, but after below-average attendance and revenue, the Atlanta Chamber of Commerce took over the bowl’s organization. Initially played at Grant Field, the Peach Bowl moved to Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium and then to the Georgia Dome, but took up residence at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in 2017.

It wasn’t until 1997 that the Peach Bowl obtained its first and only title sponsor. The fast-food franchise has been the title sponsor for nearly two decades, the longest in bowl history. For a brief period from 2006 to 2013, they even dropped the Peach name, and renamed the game “The Chick-fil-A Bowl.” They reverted back to “The Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl” for the 2014 bowl game.

Seven of the first 10 meetings in the Peach Bowl featured an Atlantic Coast Conference team, and from 1993 to 2013, a team from the SEC and ACC matched up for the Peach Bowl. There’s no mistake that this was a smart play by Peach Bowl Inc., as the bowl game has sold out for 20 years straight, starting in 1998. The Peach Bowl is growing to be one of the most competitive of the bowls, and 54 percent of the games have been decided by a touchdown or less.

We’ve witnessed some tough competition and incredible talent at the Peach Bowl over the years, and Clemson leads the charge with eight appearances, but only three wins, followed by NC State with seven appearances and four wins, and Louisiana State with an impressive six appearances and five wins. The game MVP award has also been awarded to some big names you might recognize today: Mo Lewis, Hines Ward, CJ Spiller and Matthew Stafford have all had incredible performances at the Peach Bowl.

This season’s contest features the Auburn Tigers lining up against the UCF Knights on January 1. As the College Football Playoff nears, our editorial staff will be providing the best college football betting information, along with trends, odds and tips to help you get the most out of betting on the Peach Bowl.
