    Falcons Offense Breaks Out against Toledo, But Defense Lit Up Once Again

    The Falcons are coming off one of their best offensive performances of the season, exploding for 42 points in a seven-point victory last week at Toledo. Quarterback Matt McDonald threw for a career-high 395 yards, including the game-winning score to running back Ta’ron Keith in the final minute, while Odieu Hilaire went off for 246 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.

    While the 42 points were a welcome sight for a Bowling Green attack that had been held to 17 points or less in four of its last five games, the Falcons defense struggled for the second consecutive week. Bowling Green has allowed 75 points in its last two contests, and the Falcons have also gone OVER the total in their last five games on the road.

    Ohio Has Covered Every Conference Game But Could Be Without Star QB

    As of Sunday night, it wasn’t clear whether Rourke would be healthy enough to suit up this week for the Bobcats. One of the nation’s most prolific passers this season, Rourke missed the entire second half of last week’s 32-18 win over Ball State after suffering a knee injury late in the second quarter.

    With backup CJ Harris under center the rest of the way, Ohio leaned heavily on the running of Sieh Bangura, who racked up a career-high 148 rushing yards and two touchdowns. The Bobcats defense also continued its stellar play, allowing less than 20 points for the third time in its last five games.

    Ohio remains a perfect 7-0 ATS in MAC play this season, with its only SU loss coming in overtime as a 13-point underdog at Kent State. The Bobcats’ last six victories have all come by seven points or more, and five of them were decided by at least two touchdowns.

    Falcons: Keys to Win

    Bowling Green’s offense has been much better lately on the road, scoring at least 31 points in its last three games as the visitors. McDonald and Hilaire could be a tough matchup for an Ohio defense allowing more than 312 passing yards per contest.

    Bobcats: Keys to Win

    Rourke was fifth in the nation in passing yards going into last weekend’s action, so make sure to check on his status before considering a bet on the Bobcats. If he doesn’t play, expect Ohio to lean on Bangura and the running game heavily once again.
