Colorado State Wrapped Up 2021 On A Six-Game Skid

The Rams showed some life in the first half of 2021 with a 3-3 SU and 4-2 ATS record that included an outright upset on the road over the Toledo Rockets as a 14.5-point underdog. The momentum of the first half of the season did not carry over into the second half as Colorado State fizzled out to go 0-6 SU and ATS over its last six games.

Colorado State made a big hire over the offseason, luring Jay Norvell away from the Nevada Wolf Pack. Norvell led the Wolf Pack to a 30-17 SU record over the last four seasons, and he figures to be a good fit for the Rams. A slew of new transfers, including quarterback Clay Millen and wideout Tory Horton, should make an impact this season but obviously a first assignment at Michigan won’t do the Rams any favors.

Michigan Was Dominant At Home Last Season

Jim Harbaugh put rumors about his seat being hot in Michigan to rest last year with an outstanding campaign that included a College Football Playoff berth and a signature win over the Ohio State Buckeyes as 6.5-point underdogs. That win over the Buckeyes in the Big House capped off a 7-0 SU and 6-1 ATS season at home in which the Wolverines outscored opponents by an average of 25.3 points per game.

There is plenty of talent on offense returning this season, including last year’s quarterback tandem of Cade McNamara and J.J. McCarthy, the team’s second-leading rusher, Blake Corum, and star receiver Ronnie Bell, who missed all but one week last year with a torn ACL. Even with a few question marks on defense, all systems appear to be go for another big year in Ann Arbor.

Rams: Keys To Win

There obviously isn’t much of a path to an outright win outside of everything going right for the Rams and everything going wrong for Michigan. But with 30.5 points to work with on the spread, Colorado State has enough talent on offense to potentially cover as a Rams vs Wolverines prediction if all of its transfers are in sync.

Wolverines: Keys To Win

The Wolverines clearly have the talent to win this game by five touchdowns or more and should have no trouble scoring against the Rams. To cover the spread as a Rams vs Wolverines pick, they’ll just need to play up to their potential early in the game and then hold on late when the backups get their reps in.
