Could Kyler Murray be Headed to the NFL After All?

Kyler Murray has likely made the Oakland Athletics very nervous. If you didn’t know, the Heisman Sportsbook was drafted ninth overall in last year’s MLB draft by the Oakland Athletics and signed to a $4.66-million contract to join the A’s after his junior season at Oklahoma.

The thing is, not even Murray himself could have envisioned the season he’s had in leading the Sooners to the College Football Playoff. He is at or near the top of all pertinent QB statistics and recently overtook Alabama’s Tua Tagovailoa as the consensus top quarterback in college football. Murray’s predecessor at Oklahoma, Baker Mayfield, signed a guaranteed $32.68-million contract after his Heisman-winning season.

So, with that, what will Murray’s future hold? His agent, Scott Boras, has reiterated that Kyler will be at spring training when the A’s open camp, but Murray recently indicated in an interview with ESPN College GameDay that it’s still up in the air whether he plays pro baseball or football next year. All we know is he won’t be returning to Oklahoma.

Could Kyler Murray be like Deion Sanders in Atlanta and play for both tenants of Oakland Coliseum? The Raiders are in line for the No. 1 pick, after all. Highly unlikely. But it’s great fodder and even better marketing for the A’s and Raiders.

In the meantime, you can bet on Murray’s future over at Sportsbook.
