    Florida State News & Notes

    Florida State dropped its first game of the season 16-13 to the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets as 13-point favorites and followed that up with a 52-10 blowout loss to the Miami Hurricanes as 12-point underdogs.

    The Seminoles finally found their way into the win column last Saturday against the Jacksonville State Gamecocks but not before falling into a 14-0 hole at home in the first quarter. They eventually won 41-24, failing to cover as 27-point favorites.

    On the bright side for the Seminoles, sophomore quarterback Jordan Travis came in to relieve struggling starter Tate Rodemaker and thrived, leading the team on five straight touchdown drives and finishing the day with a touchdown pass and a touchdown run. Travis will obviously have a much more difficult defense to deal with Saturday, but at least the hapless Seminoles finally showed some life on offense with him at quarterback.

    Notre Dame News & Notes

    The Fighting Irish had their previously scheduled game against the Wake Forest Demon Deacons on September 26 postponed after 18 Notre Dame players tested positive for COVID-19. Another 11 players were in quarantine due to contact tracing. Fortunately, no players were hospitalized, and the school expects to have most of its players back and active for this game against Florida State, which is still expected to be played as scheduled.

    Notre Dame defeated Duke 27-13 in its first game of the 2020 season and crushed South Florida 52-0 in its last game back on September 19. It will be interesting to see how the team plays on Saturday after the long layoff from game action and with practices modified due to the coronavirus outbreak.

    Betting Pick: Notre Dame -21

    Notre Dame might come out flat and rusty after the Wake Forest postponement or well-rested and well-prepared, having had plenty of time to study up on Florida State. With no way to know, we’ll assume that Notre Dame plays at or around its potential, which should be more than enough to roll to a big win against the Seminoles.
