Georgia, Auburn a Good Bet to Extend UNDER Streak

Both teams rank in the top 11 nationally in scoring defense, and both sides are coming off convincing defensive performances in Week 11 victories.

Sportsbook Odds Analysis

The Bulldogs opened as slim favorites, but the spread hit the magic -3 not long after. If it stays in this range, it’ll mark the sixth time in eight years these teams will have seen a spread of a field goal or less, with Georgia 3-2 SU and ATS in the previous five.

Georgia News & Notes

Oddsmakers know just what they’re getting with this Georgia defense – and still the Bulldogs are one of the top UNDER plays in the nation, having gone below the number in each of their previous four games and in seven of nine contests overall this season. The Bulldogs are ceding just 10.1 points per game and have allowed only one team to crack the 20-point barrier.

But while the offense took care of business earlier in the season, it hasn’t been quite as dominant in recent weeks. Quarterback Jake Fromm has led Georgia to a modest average of 22.3 points per game over the previous four games, with the signal-caller averaging just 195.5 passing yards per game with five touchdowns and three interceptions over that span.

Auburn News & Notes

The Tigers defense isn’t quite on par with Georgia’s, but it can certainly hold its own – particularly when it comes to quashing drives. Auburn is allowing FBS opponents to convert just 31.2 percent of their third-down chances, the 15th-best rate in the nation. That could prove critical Saturday, with Georgia going 8-for-14 on third down in last year’s 27-10 win over the Tigers.

Offensively, however, Auburn finds itself in a similar predicament to Saturday’s opponent. The Tigers have scored 20 or fewer points in three of their past four games, with only a 51-point outburst against SEC punching bag Arkansas keeping them from a prolonged slump. Auburn has also struggled with discipline, averaging 7.44 penalties per game (T-114th in FBS).

Betting Pick: UNDER

These teams are averaging just over 37 points in their last six meetings and there’s nothing to suggest that trend won’t continue this weekend. Even with the low number, this might be one of the safest UNDER plays on the Week 12 sked.
