SEC Championship Game Betting Preview: Georgia & Auburn Meet With Playoff Lives On the Line

For the first time in the 26-year history of the final, Auburn and Georgia will collide in the SEC championship game for the right to be crowned the Sportsbook of the toughest conference in college football.

Shark Bites
  • The total has gone UNDER in three of Georgia’s last four games against Auburn.
  • Georgia is 9-1 SU and 7-3 ATS in its last 10 games against its conference.
  • Georgia is 9-3 SU in its last 12 games against Auburn.

Auburn recently pulled off a massive upset in the 2017 edition of the Iron Bowl by stunning Alabama 26-14. A shot at the College Football Playoff is very much a possibility if Gus Malzahn’s two-loss team can knock off Georgia this weekend.

The Tigers have won five straight heading into the championship tilt while going 3-1-1 ATS over that span. Quarterback Jarrett Stidham has been fantastic, as the signal-caller has completed 72 percent of his passes while averaging 234 yards per game in the winning streak. Stidham has thrown eight touchdowns and two interceptions in that span.

Georgia’s only setback of the 2017 campaign came against Auburn earlier this month when the Tigers cruised to a 40-17 win at home. The Bulldogs had a clear path to the College Football Playoff before the loss, so a win here would make it tough for the committee to decline them an invite to the big dance since they would be essentially making up for that blemish.

Georgia has been a fantastic wager on the year, evidenced by the Bulldogs going 8-4 ATS so far this season. Despite the aforementioned loss a few weeks ago, the Bulldogs are 3-1 ATS in their last four meetings with the Tigers.
