Boston College, Georgia Tech Kick Off Season In Dublin

Boston College looks to rebound from their dreadful ending to the 2015 season, as they open their slate against Georgia Tech in Dublin, Ireland Saturday. Why these two teams were selected in an attempt to grow the game internationally I don’t know, but I digress.

  • The UNDER is 3-0 in the past three meetings between Georgia Tech and Boston College.
  • Boston College is 1-4 ATS in their past five games during Week 1.
  • Georgia Tech is 0-6 SU and ATS in their past six games as favorites.

Boston College had the best defense in the country last year, allowing fewer yards per game than any team in the nation. However, defensive coordinator Don Brown left for the greener pastures of Michigan this offseason. The Golden Eagles hired experienced Jim Reid to guide the defense moving forward, but it won’t matter if the offense is as abysmal as it was last season.

The triple-option attack of Georgia Tech just didn’t play as well as they should have last year thanks to offensive line issues. It was most clearly demonstrated in the statistics of quarterback Justin Thomas, who rushed for 600 fewer yards in 2015 than 2014 while averaging just 3.4 yards per carry.
