Carson Beck's Bulldogs are favored in the Georgia vs Kentucky odds

Georgia vs Kentucky Odds & Picks Week 3: Wildcats Are Going To Struggle To Score

Talk about complete dominance: Georgia has beaten Kentucky 14 straight times, and just three times in that span have the Wildcats been within single digits. No wonder, then, the top-ranked Bulldogs are commanding 24-point favorites in Lexington on Saturday night.

Georgia recorded an eye-opening rout of 13.5-point underdog Clemson in its season opener before trouncing FCS Tennessee Tech last week. Kentucky covered as a 26-point favorite over Southern Mississippi in its opener, but was then manhandled by 10-point road underdog South Carolina last week 31-6. The Wildcats haven’t scored a touchdown in five straight quarters, while the Bulldogs haven’t allowed one yet this year.

Georgia vs Kentucky Picks—Week 3

How ugly was it for Kentucky last week? The Wildcats managed just 183 yards of offense, only 44 of those through the air. Without a passing threat to take the pressure off the run, South Carolina feasted off sacks and turnovers to blow open a close game in the second half.

And if the Gamecocks could do that—what kind of havoc can Georgia wreak? The Bulldogs held Clemson to 188 total yards in their opener, and have perhaps the best secondary in the nation.

Georgia quarterback Carson Beck torched a ranked Kentucky team for 389 yards and four touchdowns last season in Athens. And have we mentioned that Georgia has won 15 straight SEC road games, while Kentucky has lost four straight (and eight of its last 10) to league opponents at home?

You know where this is going. Kroger Field is hardly the most intimidating home environment in the SEC, and a fast start by Georgia will have Big Blue Nation ready to turn the page to basketball season. That’s a big number for a road team to cover, but it’s also the only reasonable play given what we’ve seen so far.

Georgia vs Kentucky Week 1 Pick: Georgia -24 (-110)

Pick made on Tuesday, Sept. 10 at 1:30 pm ET

The Wildcats have gone UNDER in each of their first two games this season, while Georgia went UNDER against Clemson and has done the same in four of its last five against FBS competition dating back to last season. Georgia typically goes UNDER because it doesn’t allow a lot of points; Kentucky typically goes UNDER because it doesn’t score a lot. That’s a bad combination for Saturday night.

Georgia vs Kentucky News

Although he was pulled late in the South Carolina game in favor of backup Gavin Wimsatt, Brock Vandagriff appears in line to remain Kentucky’s starting quarterback despite going 3-of-10 for 30 yards and an interception against the Gamecocks. “I think he’ll be fine,” coach Mark Stoops told reporters in Lexington. “We have to play good around him. He has to have some time, and we have to have a good plan for him.”

Georgia vs Kentucky Prop Pick: Defensive or special teams touchdown scored, +225

South Carolina capped its blowout of Kentucky last week with a 24-yard interception return for a touchdown by safety Nick Emmanwori. Georgia has an All-American at safety in Malaki Starks, whose six career picks include one against Clemson in the opener.
