Harry Gagnon's Hidden Week 4 College Football Gems

Top five reasons to take:

Coastal Carolina -17
Appalachian State +3
Toledo -9
Charlotte/Clemson OVER 62.5

Massachusetts @ Coastal Carolina -17

1. UMass is 0-3 straight up and has lost by an average of 27 points.

2. In three games, UMass has been sacked 10 times.

3. Coastal Carolina beat a Big 5 conference school (Kansas) 12-7, who beat Boston College on the road by double digits.

4. UMass has given up 48, 45 and 52 points. The 45 was scored by 1-AA Southern Illinois and the game was a home one for UMass.

5. UMass through three games still does not have a receiver with 100 total yards.

Prediction: Coastal Carolina 48, Massachusetts 20

Appalachian State +3 @ North Carolina

1. Appalachian State is 2-0 and has put up 42 and 56 points in those games.

2. North Carolina very well could be looking past this game since the No. 1-ranked Clemson Tigers visit Chapel Hill next week.

3. Appalachian State has won bowl games in the last four years.

4. Las year Appalachian State lost in overtime at Penn State.

5. In 2016, Appalachian State lost to then-No. 9 Tennessee in Knoxville, speaking of overtime. Ex-offensive coordinator and now head coach Eli Drinkwitz has a formidable team that UNC needs to keep their eye on. With UNC being the home team, this line seems still quite low as it tries to entice favorite bettors, but not me.

Prediction: Appalachian State 27, North Carolina 24

Toledo -9 @ Colorado State

1. Colorado State is 1-2 and in their two Division 1 games they gave up 52 to Colorado and 55 last week to Arkansas.

2. Toledo played SEC school Kentucky very tough.

3. Toledo had three touchdowns of over 40 yards last week in a shutout of Murray State. The Racers of Murray State did manage to score 17 the week before against SEC power Georgia.

4. Toledo QB Mitchell Guadagni’s completion rate is almost 70 percent and he has zero interceptions.

5. The Colorado State defense has forced zero turnovers in three games.

Prediction: Toledo 44, Colorado State 29

Charlotte @ Clemson OVER 62.5

1. Clemson is averaging 39 points a game so far through three wins.

2. Charlotte is 2-1 and the total points scored in those games is 77, 97 and 69.

3. Charlotte is averaging a very impressive seven yards a carry.

4. This is a game in which Heisman hopefuls Trevor Lawrence and Travis Etienne can really pad their stats before conference play kicks in.

5. That 97-point Charlotte game was against a very good Appalachian State team.

Prediction: Clemson 55, Charlotte 26
