Colorado State on a 7-Game Cover Streak Heading into Potato Bowl

The Idaho Vandals will look to stay perfect in bowl games when they match up with the Colorado State Rams in the Idaho Potato Bowl on December 22. This will be the Rams’ third ever bowl game appearance but they will have to overcome large underdog odds if they want to finish with nine wins for the first time in nearly 20 years.

SHARK BITES
  • Idaho is 2-0 all-time in bowl games, Colorado State is 6-9.
  • Colorado State is 7-0 ATS in its last 7 games.
  • Idaho is 1-5 ATS in its last 6 games against teams with winning records.

I hope the Vandals like their potatoes mashed because they’ll be facing one of the best bets in college football in this one. The Rams opened as 13-point favorites and that may not be enough to scare off bettors as they’ve cashed seven straight for their ATS backers.

The clock is ticking on the Vandals’ time in the FBS so this could be their last opportunity to appear in a bowl game for an extended period, possibly decades. Motivation is not the only factor in these games but it does play a large part when there’s nothing left to play for.

A bad sign for them, however, is that the Rams have a 3-1-1 ATS record as favorites this year and two of those wins came when Colorado State was favored by more than two touchdowns. The Rams also have a lot more experience in bowl games as this will be their fourth straight year appearing in one.
