The Flames steadily climbed the college football ranks before finally making their way into the FBS as an independent in 2018. After going 6-6 SU and 5-5-2 ATS in their debut FBS campaign last year, Liberty earned bowl eligibility with a 7-5 SU record this season under new head coach Hugh Freeze.
Stephen Calvert had a strong year at quarterback in Freeze’s system with 3,393 passing yards and 26 passing touchdowns with only five interceptions. His main target, Antonio Gandy-Golden, ranks third in the nation in receiving yards after hauling in 74 catches for 1,333 yards and nine touchdowns.

It wasn’t that long ago that the Georgia Southern Eagles were making their bowl debut back in 2015 in a game that they won 58-27 over the Bowling Green Falcons. Fueled by a triple-option rushing attack that ranks eighth in the nation with 260.9 rushing yards per game, the Eagles compiled a 7-5 SU and 5-7 ATS record to earn bowl eligibility again this season.
That 7-5 record was highlighted by an upset win over Appalachian State on Halloween. Quarterback Shai Werts has 704 passing yards and nine passing touchdowns with no interceptions on 108 passing attempts this season and is also the team’s third-leading rusher with 676 rushing yards. Georgia Southern is 9-1 SU in its last 10 games as a betting favorite.
