It’s been 16 years since LSU last visited South Carolina, a drought that ends Saturday when the Tigers take the field at Williams-Brice Stadium. LSU opened as a 7-point favorite over a Gamecocks program it’s beaten seven straight times, and is 7-1-1 against since South Carolina joined the SEC.
The Gamecocks, though, are coming off a momentum-building 31-6 victory at Kentucky, where they won outright as 10-point underdogs. The Tigers lost outright as 4-point favorites to Southern Cal in a neutral-site game to open the season, before rebounding with a rout of FCS program Nicholls State last weekend.

LSU vs South Carolina Picks—Week 3
South Carolina’s big victory in Kentucky was due to a defense that recorded five sacks and held the Wildcats to 183 total yards, only 44 of those through the air. While the Gamecocks aren’t built to win shootouts—they managed just 252 total yards at Kentucky themselves—first-year starting quarterback LaNorris Sellers has found his footing and Arkansas transfer Raheim Sanders remains a threat at running back.
The Tigers at this point are far more difficult to figure, given that sports bettors shouldn’t put much stock in a big victory over an FCS program. So many of the playmakers that fueled last season’s potent offense—quarterback Jayden Daniels, receivers Malik Nabers and Brian Johnson Jr., and running back Logan Diggs—are gone, and LSU notably lacked that big play ability in the 27-20 season-opening loss to USC.
It all points toward a low-scoring affair in Columbia, with both sides trying to dictate the tempo. LSU went UNDER the total in its opener against the Trojans. The Gamecocks have gone UNDER in each of their first two games this year and in seven of their last eight dating back to last season. Expect that trend to continue on Saturday afternoon.
LSU vs South Carolina Week 3 Pick: UNDER 50 (-112)
This is typically a bad matchup for South Carolina; five of the losses in their seven-game skid to the Tigers have been by double-digits. Even in seasons when it’s not a national title contender, LSU’s roster is loaded with elite athletes—and South Carolina’s just isn’t. The last time they met, in 2020, an LSU team that would go 5-5 won by 28 points, which illustrates the difference between the two programs.

LSU vs South Carolina News
The Tigers are nursing a few injuries heading to Columbia. Starting defensive tackle Jacobian Guillory tore his Achilles against Nicholls State and will miss the rest of the season, coach Brian Kelly told reporters in Baton Rouge. Receiver Kyle Parker is questionable with an elbow injury suffered against USC, while receiver Chris Hilton appears closer to returning from an ankle bone bruise suffered in fall camp.
LSU vs South Carolina Prop Pick: Kyren Lacy Anytime TD (-190)
The senior LSU receiver has emerged as quarterback Garrett Nussmeier’s favorite target, and the heir apparent to Nabers and Johnson. Lacy caught a touchdown pass for the Tigers in their opener against USC and then added three more last week in the blowout of Nicholls State. His four receiving TDs lead the SEC through the first two weeks of the season.
