The Kansas State Wildcats (3-1 SU, 2-2 ATS) are 2-0 SU and ATS in their last two games against the No. 6 Oklahoma Sooners (4-0, 1-3). The Wildcats will try to earn another upset win over the Sooners on Saturday afternoon in Manhattan, Kansas.
Sportsbook Odds Analysis
The betting line on this matchup has remained steady since the Sooners opened as a 10.5-point favorite. The total in this Big 12 matchup has seen a slight move from 52 points up to 52.5 points. Kansas State is 13-6 ATS in its last 19 games as an underdog.
Oklahoma News & Notes
For whatever reason, the offense isn’t clicking with Spencer Rattler at the helm like it has for all of the other quarterbacks who have played in Lincoln Riley’s system in recent years.
Rattler threw for five touchdowns in a 76-0 win over the FCS Western Carolina Catamounts. But in his other three games, he has averaged 258 passing yards and thrown for only three touchdowns with three interceptions. The Sooners are 0-3 ATS in those games as a result with an average margin of victory of only five points.
On the bright side, Oklahoma’s defense has looked great since a poor start against Tulane, most recently holding the West Virginia Mountaineers to only 13 points in the Sooners’ 16-13 win on Saturday. There is potential for a big season here if Rattler can start playing to his potential.
Kansas State News & Notes
Kansas State’s 3-0 SU and 2-1 ATS run to start the season came to an end on Saturday in a 31-20 loss on the road to the Oklahoma State Cowboys. With starter Skylar Thompson out with a knee injury, Will Howard and Jaren Lewis split time in the game and neither was impressive. Howard went just 4-for-12 for 50 yards and Lewis went 10-for-19 with 148 passing yards, one touchdown and one interception.
The Wildcats’ bread and butter is the run. But without solid quarterback play to keep the defense honest, it was too easy for Oklahoma State to hone in on the run and hold Deuce Vaughn to just 22 rushing yards on 13 carries. Oklahoma will likely have similar success if Lewis or Howard don’t step up.
Staff Betting Pick: UNDER 52 points
Spencer Rattler’s life isn’t going to get any easier in a hostile environment on the road on Saturday. The Wildcats are a tempting play getting 10.5 points at home, but will their offense be able to produce points against this stingy Sooners defense? The UNDER feels like the right play.
