The No. 3 Oregon Ducks (4-0 SU, 1-3 ATS) are 6-3 SU and ATS in their last nine road games against the Stanford Cardinal. The Ducks will try to avoid a slip-up with another road win over the Cardinal on Saturday afternoon in Stanford.
Sportsbook Odds Analysis
The Ducks opened as 7-point road favorites and have since been bet up to Oregon -8. The total has moved down slightly from its opener at 58.5 points to 58 points for Saturday’s matchup. Oregon is 13-6 SU in its last 19 games against Stanford.
Oregon News & Notes
Oregon took a 24-10 lead into the half against the Arizona Wildcats last Saturday. Arizona actually managed to cut the lead down to 24-19 in the third quarter before the Ducks pulled away with a 17-0 fourth quarter to win by a final score of 41-19. The Ducks failed to cover the spread for the third time as a favorite this season as the Wildcats were 29.5-point home underdogs.
Anthony Brown completed only 10 of his 21 passes on Saturday but still managed to throw for 206 yards and three touchdowns with no interceptions. The senior has done a good job avoiding mistakes this season, with seven touchdown passes and zero interceptions thus far.
CJ Verdell should be fresh against Stanford after carrying the ball only 11 times in each of Oregon’s last two games.
Stanford News & Notes
Tanner McKee went 19-for-32 for 293 passing yards and three touchdown passes in Stanford’s 35-24 loss at home against the UCLA Bruins on Saturday. Since McKee took over the starting job from Jack West in Week 1, he hasn’t looked back, completing 67.6 percent of his passes for 863 passing yards, eight touchdown passes and no interceptions.
Stanford’s defense is allowing 401.3 total yards and 27.5 points per game. It’s had to imagine things getting much better against this potent Oregon attack, so the Cardinal’s only real path to an upset in this one is to outshoot the Ducks.
Bettors considering taking the Cardinal in this matchup should also consider playing them with the OVER. The OVER is 4-1 in Stanford’s last five wins.
Staff Betting Pick: Oregon -8
This should be a fun and competitive game to start. But we don’t see this Ducks team having trouble performing on the road, and the talent gap between the two squads should lead to Oregon eventually pulling away and covering the spread.
