Florida State favored big at Pitt

The Jameis Winston era kicks off at Florida State with a road test at new ACC foe Pittsburgh.

Winston, a dynamic redshirt freshman quarterback, is a darkhorse Heisman candidate and leads a Seminole offense that returns seven starters, including four offensive linemen. Pittsburgh enters its second season under coach Paul Chryst with tempered expectations.

Rutgers transfer Tom Savage will start at QB for the Panthers, who return just five starters on offense. Pittsburgh has covered the spread in four of its last five games as a home underdog.

Florida State has covered the spread in all three season openers under coach Jimbo Fisher, but all three of those games have come against non-BCS competition.

And FSU bettors should beware the recent Noles trend: they are 0-6 ATS in their past 6 games as a road favorite.
