  • USC keeps picking up W’s on the field but it has been a different story at the betting window. Although the Trojans sit at 6-1 SU, the team is just 1-6 ATS this season – while failing to cover in each of its past five. The Trojans will look to prove they belong in the national championship hunt when they visit No.13-ranked Notre Dame this Saturday.

    USC made fairly easy work of Notre Dame last season when the two programs clashed with the Trojans picking up a 45-27 victory. It was then USC star Adoree’ Jackson who took over that game, as the cornerback found the end zone on three occasions.

    If USC wants to topple the ranked Fighting Irish this weekend, they need to play for an entire 60 minutes instead of the final 15. The Trojans have scored almost 43 percent of their points on the season in the fourth quarter and overtime. USC was down 21-7 at halftime last week vs Utah before outscoring the Utes 21-6 in the second half. Though USC is winning, this is not a trend that Clay Helton and the coaching staff should feel comfortable with.

    Notre Dame has one of the most grueling stretches to close out their season with the Fighting Irish facing off against a ranked team in five of their final six games. A bye week was a welcome sight for Notre Dame, as it gave injured quarterback Brandon Wimbush a chance to heal up his ankle. The junior’s ability to run has created an unpredictable dynamic in Notre Dame’s offense but Wimbush will need to improve as a passer for the Irish Dame to survive the impending gauntlet.
