Oddsmaker: LSU would be fave over USC

Coaches and oddsmakers are on the same page – there’s LSU, Alabama, and USC, and then everyone else. However, there is some disagreement in terms of what order those teams rank.

LSU edged No. 2 Alabama and No. 3 USC for top spot in the USA Today Coaches' Poll released Thursday, although both the Crimson Tide (20) and Trojans (19) received more first-place votes than the Tigers (18).
Some sportsbooks have LSU favored to win the BCS National Championship, while others like Sportsbook and Sportsbook have the Trojans as the favorites. The Tigers began as BCS favorites at most shops, but bettors have jumped on USC and moved the Trojans into the top spot.
Still, Las Vegas oddsmaker Pete Korner of the Sports Club said he’d make LSU around a “4-to-6-point” favorite over USC in a mythical Week 1 matchup on a neutral field, although his power rankings suggest the Tigers are closer to "two touchdowns better" than the Trojans.
LSU is currently a 3-point favorite for its Nov. 3 home game against Alabama.
The Crimson Tide are the third team in the top tier and sit around 6/1 to win the BCS title. No other team’s odds are in the single digits.
The top 5 teams in Coaches' Poll went a combined 41-23-1 against the spread last season.

Big Line Moves
South Carolina (-6.5, 47) @ Vanderbilt: The Gamecocks began as 10.5-point favorites at Vanderbilt at Sportsbook, but the number has shrunk all the way down to 6.5. The status of South Carolina star running back Marcus Lattimore is a major concern. Lattimore is returning from knee surgery that cost him half of last season. Lattimore is reportedly on track to participate in preseason camp, but isn’t expected to be at full strength.
Michigan vs. Alabama (-11.5, 42): Sportsbook actually opened the Crimson Tide as only 7.5-point favorites over the Wolverines way back in January. The line climbed all the way to Alabama -15.5, but has been coming back down and appears to have settled at 11.5.
