Sportsbook Odds Analysis

The Cowboys originally opened as 3-point favorites in this matchup. But with Dak Prescott knocked out for the season with a compound fracture in his ankle, the betting odds on this game swung the other way with Arizona now going off as a 2.5-point road favorite. The total has surprisingly gone up despite Prescott’s injury, climbing from its opener at 52 points up to 54.5 points.

Arizona News & Notes

After suffering back-to-back losses as favorites to the Detroit Lions and Carolina Panthers, the Cardinals coasted to a 30-10 win as 7-point favorites against the New York Jets on Sunday.

Kyler Murray had a season-high 380 passing yards in the win with one passing touchdown and one rushing major. Murray leads all quarterbacks in rushing touchdowns this season with five and is averaging 59.2 rushing yards per game.

Arizona ranks 10th in the NFL in total defense, allowing 346.6 yards per game, and fifth in scoring defense, allowing 20.4 points per game. After going 3-13 SU in 2018 and 5-10-1 SU in 2019, the 3-2 SU and ATS Cardinals appear to be on their way to a productive season in 2020.

Dallas News & Notes

Dak Prescott was having an incredible season before suffering a devastating ankle injury in Sunday’s 37-34 win against the New York Giants.

Prescott was leading the NFL in passing yards, attempts and completions at the time of his injury. Through his first four games, he had 1,690 passing yards, nine passing touchdowns and three interceptions. He will be replaced by backup Andy Dalton.

Dalton will now be asked to pick up where Prescott left off in trying to keep Dallas competitive despite its abysmal defense. The Cowboys rank 27th in the league in total yards allowed at 404.4 per game and are dead last in scoring defense, surrendering 36 points per game. They just gave up 34 points to a Giants offense that was averaging 11.8 points per game prior to Sunday.

Betting Pick: Arizona -2.5

Andy Dalton is an extremely capable backup quarterback who shouldn’t have any trouble running this Cowboys offense effectively. But with such a dismal defense behind him going up against a dynamic offense like Arizona’s, it’s going to be difficult to keep up on the scoreboard.
