Sportsbook Odds Analysis

The Rams originally opened as a 4-point favorite, but Jared Goff’s injury has moved this line down to Los Angeles -1. The total has also dropped from its opener at 42.5 points down to 39.5 points. The UNDER is 4-2 in Arizona’s last six games.

Arizona News & Notes

The Cardinals had a two-game winning streak snapped as 6-point favorites last Sunday when they suffered a shocking loss against the San Francisco 49ers. Despite being down to their third-string quarterback, the 49ers came up with a 20-12 win, knocking Arizona down to 8-7 SU and 7-8 ATS on the season and to 2-4 SU and ATS over its last six games.

Kyler Murray was also banged up in the loss, putting his status for Sunday’s game in jeopardy as he is listed as questionable with a leg injury. Even if Murray is able to play, the mobility that makes him so dangerous could be hindered if the young quarterback is dealing with a sore leg.

After losing to San Francisco last week, Arizona can only make the playoffs with a win in this game or a tie paired with a Chicago Bears loss.

Los Angeles News & Notes

The Rams scored just nine points in a 20-9 loss to the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday. Los Angeles was 4-1 SU and ATS over its previous five games before losing back-to-back games to the New York Jets and Seattle to fall to 9-6 SU and 8-7 ATS on the season. Now, the Rams will need a win on Sunday or a Chicago loss to advance to the postseason.

Los Angeles will try to earn that win without starting quarterback Jared Goff, who underwent surgery for a broken thumb on Monday. John Wolford, who has never taken a snap in the NFL after going undrafted when he graduated from Wake Forest in 2018, is set to start for the Rams.

If Kyler Murray is unable to start, this must-win game for both teams could become a battle between two quarterbacks who have never thrown a pass in the NFL in Wolford and the Cards’ Chris Streveler.

Betting Pick: UNDER 39.5 points

Even if Kyler Murray does start with his lower-leg injury, he isn’t likely to be at 100 percent against the elite Rams defense. And with Los Angeles sending John Wolford out there, points should be at a premium in this one.
