Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are big home favorites in NFL betting odds for their Week 2 matchup with the Atlanta Falcons.

Bucs Now Double-Digit Home Favorites vs Falcons

The Super Bowl champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1-0 SU, 0-1 ATS) will look to take advantage of some extra rest when they host the Atlanta Falcons (0-1, 0-1) on Sunday as huge home favorites again at sportsbooks monitored by Odds Shark. The Buccaneers are coming off a 31-29 win over the Dallas Cowboys in the Week 1 Thursday Night Football matchup but failed to cover as 9-point home chalk.

Sportsbook Odds Analysis

In the biggest line mover of Week 2, Tampa Bay has jumped up 5.5 points in early betting action following a thrilling win in the prime-time opener combined with a brutal home loss by Atlanta as a 3.5-point favorite last Sunday. The Falcons were blown out 32-6 by the Philadelphia Eagles in the debut of head coach Arthur Smith, who saw his offense score only two field goals with quarterback Matt Ryan completing 21 of 35 passes for 164 yards. It is hard to imagine Atlanta bouncing back in this spot, so bettors are backing the favorite.

Atlanta News & Notes

If Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers did not look so bad in Week 1, more people would be talking about the disappointing performance of Ryan and the Falcons. Smith looked out of his element as a head coach opposite Nick Sirianni and had no answer for Jalen Hurts, who completed 27 of 35 passes for 264 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions.

First-round draft pick Kyle Pitts had just four catches for 31 yards while the running game struggled as well behind lead back Mike Davis (15 carries for 49 yards). Defensively, there are no excuses for giving up that many points at home, and it will be interesting to see if that unit can rebound to at least give the team a chance to compete.

Tampa Bay News & Notes

Many would say the Buccaneers were lucky to escape Week 1 with a victory, at least those backers of the Dallas Cowboys and others who played them in their Survivor pools. However, Tampa Bay was in control for most of the game, and Dallas made a huge mistake leaving reigning Super Bowl MVP Tom Brady with more than a minute on the clock to work.

Covering the spread was another story, though, as the Bucs never got a double-digit lead and led by more than seven points one time (28-19 with 6:23 left in the third quarter). That said, Tampa’s offense remains explosive and more than capable of routing this opponent.

Staff Betting Pick: OVER 52

Atlanta’s defense is a big concern heading into Week 2, especially against Brady and company. The Buccaneers did not look great defensively in Week 1 either, and they will likely need to pile on the points again in an effort to improve to 2-0 here. With both defenses being question marks, and the betting trends favoring a high-scoring game, take the OVER.
