Baltimore Will Attempt To Identify More Pass Options For Lamar Jackson

Former NFL MVP Lamar Jackson did not suit up for the Ravens’ opener against the Titans, but he is more than likely interested in this matchup for a number of reasons. With his quarterback counterpart, Kyler Murray, recently inking a new deal for five years and $230.5 million, it now sets the stage for Jackson’s second contract in the NFL.

With Marquise “Hollywood” Brown now on the other sideline and Mark Andrews commanding the vast majority of targets, it will be up to wide receivers Rashod Bateman, Devin Duvernay and James Proche II to impress their signal-caller and develop chemistry. If they do, this game may have a chance to showcase fireworks as the total has gone OVER in four of the last six Ravens games.

Former Ravens QB Will Try To Help Cardinals Improve To 2-0

Former Ravens backup quarterback Trace McSorley impressed in his Cardinals debut as he connected on 13 of 22 pass attempts for 163 yards and one touchdown. With Murray likely to take few if any competitive reps and Colt McCoy likely manning the team early on, the Penn State product will be at the helm for the majority of the game against his former team.

He has shown to be competent in these big stages and has a slew of targets to work with, a luxury he didn’t have in Baltimore. With coach Kliff Kingsbury calling the shots, the Cardinals offense should once again turn in a solid showing after a big performance against the Bengals. It’s worth noting, though, that the total has gone UNDER in eight of Arizona’s last 10 games played in August.

Ravens vs Cardinals Pick & Insights

Ravens: Keys To Cover

The Ravens badly need to identify another receiving target for Jackson. And while backup QB Tyler Huntley will not be on the field for significant time, he has proven capable between preseason and regular-season action in his career. He will have to lead this Baltimore offense to the promised land as points will be needed to keep up with the potent Arizona attack.

Cardinals: Keys To Cover

The main takeaway from the first preseason game was the connection between McSorley and wide receiver Andy Isabella. If the two continue this chemistry, they may pose issues for a Baltimore defense that trots out first-round selection Kyle Hamilton at safety. After not turning the ball over once against Cincinnati, if the Cardinals are able to hold on to the football once again, they should improve to 2-0 in the preseason.
