Ravens Look to Improve on Offensive Side of the Ball
It hasn’t been pretty at times, but the Ravens are perched atop the AFC North, a game ahead of the Cincinnati Bengals. The Ravens are coming off a grueling 13-3 victory over the Panthers in which the Ravens defense held Baker Mayfield and the Carolina attack in check.
The Ravens limited the Panthers to only 205 yards, sacked Mayfield four times and forced three turnovers while giving up fewer than three touchdowns for the fourth straight game. That gave Lamar Jackson and the offense just enough breathing room to punch in a late touchdown to seal the deal.
The Ravens offense has been stagnant the past few weeks but remains the fourth-highest scoring unit in the NFL. Baltimore relies primarily on its second-ranked rush attack and Jackson will need to redevelop his connection with tight end Mark Andrews following his return from injury.
Jaguars Well Rested off Bye Week, Looking to Get Back on Track
Despite the Jaguars’ unsightly record, Jacksonville continues to compete in highly contested ball games. The team is coming off a 27-17 loss at the hands of the Kansas City Chiefs that marked the first game this season that the Jags lost by more than one possession.
Trevor Lawrence threw the ball 40 times in Kansas City, completing 29 passes for 259 yards and two touchdowns. The main beneficiary was Christian Kirk, the Jags’ big offseason signing who continues to be well worth the money. The former Cardinal caught both of Lawrence’s scoring strikes and finished with nine catches for 105 yards.
Ravens: Keys to Win
The Ravens must get the offense rolling after relying on the defense in recent weeks. Look for Lamar Jackson to get Mark Andrews involved early and often in the game script. Once ahead, the Ravens will be able to lean on their potent rush attack and slowly drain the life out of the Jaguars.
Jaguars: Keys to Win
The Ravens have forced turnovers with some consistency this season and will be licking their lips at the prospect of facing this Jacksonville offense. The Jaguars rank 24th in the NFL for fumbles lost and will need to keep the pigskin in their possession if they are to pull off the upset and cover this 4-point spread.
