As football bettors enter Week 3 they’ve now had a chance to see every team twice. Some teams, like New England and Kansas City, have proven themselves to be consistently great or terrible, respectively. Others are still major question marks, which lead to major line changes.
Here’s a look at the games that have seen the most noticeable line movement in Week 3. For the latest NFL betting lines for this week head over to [custom:bodog-link].
Denver Broncos @ Tennessee Titans (from -4.5 to -7.0)
Tennessee looked like a dog in a Week 1 loss to Jacksonville, but a surprising outright upset of Baltimore last week at home gave early bettors confidence to jump all over them this week. Denver is 0-2 ATS after winning but failing to cover last week at home against Cincinnati.
Atlanta Falcons @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers (from +1.0 to -1.5)
Both teams completed impressive comebacks last week, but Tampa Bay got the love from early bettors. This could be in part due to Atlanta’s dud of a road performance in Week 1, or the fact that many believe they’d be 0-2 had Michael Vick not been injured.
Houston Texans @ New Orleans Saints (from -5.5 to -4.0)
Houston is off to a 2-0 start both SU and ATS with double-digit wins over Indianapolis and Miami, so bettors were happy to take the points at +5.5. Houston’s win on the road last week broke a six-game road losing streak.
San Francisco 49ers @ Cincinnati Bengals (from -1.0 to -2.5)
In a bit of a surprise, early bettors preferred Cincinnati over San Francisco, who is coming off a solid losing effort against Dallas. Perhaps bettors are worried about the 49ers away from home. This will be San Francisco’s first road game of the season, and they won just one road game last year.
Other games that have seen slight line movements include Detroit @ Minnesota (from +4.0 to +3.5), Baltimore @ St. Louis (from +3.5 to +4.0), and Green Bay @ Chicago (from +4.0 to +3.5).
