Bills-Jets Thursday Nighter Will be Decided on the Ground

One of the oldest rivalries in the NFL will book another chapter this Thursday when the Bills and Jets do battle at the Meadowlands in yet another TNF electric factory. While there was more than a little sarcasm implied in that Sportsbook sentence, this is a huge game that the Bills need to win and they opened as field-goal favorites to do just that.

SHARK BITES
  • The Bills are 4-0 SU and 3-0-1 ATS this season when they rush for more than 100 yards as a team.
  • The Jets have the 28th-ranked rush defense (128.3 yards per game).
  • The Bills are averaging 124.6 rushing yards per game.

In order for the Bills to win, they’ll need to run the ball effectively against a team that has a harder time stopping the run than Ezekiel Elliott has accepting his six-game suspension. LeSean McCoy is coming off a massive game against the Raiders and with a clean bill of health, he could be primed for another big performance on Thursday.

Before his 151-yard outburst in Week 8, he hadn’t broken the century mark in rushing yards since Week 1 when he and the Bills beat the New York Football Jets 21-12 in Buffalo.

New York will likely put a lot of energy into trying to stop the run but with Muhammad Wilkerson still banged up, that effort might be misplaced against one of the best rushing attacks in the NFL.

The Jets were a source for juicy moneylines early in the season but the tap is starting to run dry and the points they’re offering on Thursday kind of feel like a Sportsbook. They may look attractive to a desperate bettor whose bankroll has evaporated but they probably won’t help quench the thirst.
