Carson Wentz is on his way to the Indianapolis Colts. Find out how he's projected to play in 2021 via our Carson Wentz odds.

Carson Wentz Odds: How Will He Fare With the Colts?

The Carson Wentz era in Philadelphia is officially over. After five years in the City of Brotherly Love, the Eagles traded Wentz to the Indianapolis Colts for a third-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft and a conditional second-round pick in 2022.

Wentz’s future in Philadelphia appeared to be in jeopardy after the former second overall pick endured the worst season of his professional career.

Wentz voiced his frustration with the franchise after former Eagles head coach Doug Pederson benched him in favor of rookie signal-caller Jalen Hurts, claiming he wanted to be the undisputed starter on a team going forward.

Carson Wentz Odds

Indianapolis was reportedly Wentz’s No. 1 landing spot, and for good reason. The signal-caller is very familiar with Colts head coach Frank Reich, who used to be his offensive coordinator in Philly. The pair have a good relationship and the Colts believe they can get Wentz back to the MVP form he’s shown in the past.

The sportsbook has set the OVER/UNDER on passing yards for Wentz in 2021 at 4,000, with the O/U on TD passes at 23.5 and the O/U on interceptions set at 11.5.

Wentz has only hit the 4,000-yard mark once in his career, which happened in 2019 when he threw for 4,039 yards. Wentz’s perennially underachieving receiving corps in Philadelphia often made life difficult for him, but it’s hard to foresee him eclipsing the 4,000-yard number in his first year in Indy, even with better weapons around him.

Wentz became a turnover machine in 2020, finishing the year tied with Drew Lock for the league high in interceptions with 15. Wentz’s previous career high in that category was 14 in his rookie season, but he did throw 21 picks from 2017 to 2019. If you think Wentz’s interception issue is not going to be solved overnight, there could be value in betting the OVER 11.5 INTs here in Carson Wentz odds.

Philadelphia Eagles Odds

Now that Wentz and Pederson are out of town, the Eagles have a fresh slate to work with at the quarterback and head coach positions. Nick Sirianni was brought in to fill Pederson’s shoes after serving as the offensive coordinator with the Colts under Reich.

Hurts’ first season with the Eagles was a mixed bag. The former Heisman Trophy Sportsbook came in and immediately impressed as a starter, causing the Eagles faithful to crown him the quarterback of the future.

Hurts ended the season with a loss against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 16 and a shaky showing in Week 17 against the Washington Football Team in a game in which Pederson famously pulled him in favor of the little-known Nate Sudfeld.

It’s impossible to determine whether Hurts will be the long-term answer at QB for the Eagles at this point, but the shop is banking on him getting the bulk of starts under center for Philadelphia in 2021.

According to a report from ESPN’s Chris Mortensen, Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie has prioritized making Hurts successful in 2021 instead of creating a true competition for the job.

Hurts is currently the only quarterback on the Eagles roster, but if that report is true, it would be a surprise to see general manager Howie Roseman bring in an established QB to compete with him. Hurts’ odds on games started in 2021 sit at OVER/UNDER 12.5.

The Eagles, who own the No. 6 pick in the upcoming draft, are widely expected to take a wide receiver to boost the depleted receiving corps. If Philadelphia opts to stray from that plan and select a QB, you can bet on that happening at an appealing price of +350.
