Bears-Packers Shaping Up to Be a Slog

The Chicago Bears would be truly thankful to get a capable quarterbacking performance this week as they visit the Green Bay Packers on Sunday Night Football. The struggling Bears (5-5 SU, 5-5 ATS) go from their Week 11 bye straight into a Thanksgiving Week matchup with a Packers team (7-3 SU, 6-4 ATS) that is in the driver’s seat atop the NFC North standings.

This spread might settle at some point, but bettors will find it anywhere from Packers -7.5 all the way to -9 depending on the sportsbook. The total is much steadier across the board, sitting at 45 (a half-point below the open).

Chicago News & Notes

As the Bears return from a much-needed break, they face plenty of questions. Who will be the Week 12 starting quarterback, and will it matter who gets the call between Mitchell Trubisky and Nick Foles? Has running back David Montgomery sufficiently healed from his concussion, and will he be able to improve upon what has been a mostly forgettable 2020 season vs Green Bay?

The player who could wind up making the biggest difference for Chicago is wide receiver Allen Robinson, whose game-breaking ability has been hampered by consistently poor quarterback play. Robinson comes into the Sunday nighter with 63 catches for 755 yards but has just three touchdowns, with only one of those scores coming over his past six games.

Green Bay News & Notes

This could be, for all intents and purposes, the game that clinches the division title for the Packers. They come in a game and a half ahead of the second-place Bears, and a victory would give them an almost insurmountable lead. But a loss will make things rather interesting, especially when you consider that these teams will meet again in their regular-season finale.

The most reliable player on either side of the field for daily fantasy purposes: wide receiver Davante Adams, who has TDs in six of eight games played and has found the end zone 10 times already this season. The Bears gave Adams a tougher time than most teams in 2019, limiting him to just 11 catches on 21 targets for 139 yards and one touchdown in two head-to-head meetings.

Betting Pick: UNDER 45 (-110)

NFC North games played outside in November tend to be low-scoring affairs – and with the Bears needing a win here to ostensibly keep their playoff hopes alive, we’re expecting to see the best out of their rested defense.
