Chicago Has Been A Reliable Bet As A Preseason Underdog

The Bears entered halftime of their preseason opener trailing the Kansas City Chiefs 14-0 at home. But with 16 points in the third quarter and a field goal in the fourth, Chicago pulled out a 19-14 win as a 1.5-point home underdog. Trevor Siemian finished the day going 7-for-13 with 89 passing yards, two touchdowns and zero interceptions.

Chicago has rewarded its backers with a 7-2 SU and 8-1 ATS record in its last nine games as a preseason underdog. That stretch includes a 5-2 SU and 6-1 ATS record on the road. The Bears rushed the ball 32 times for 137 yards against the Chiefs and will likely have another run-heavy attack against Seattle as the team looks to sort out its running back depth chart behind starter David Montgomery.

Seattle Has Struggled In Recent Preseasons

Drew Lock and Geno Smith put up very similar stat lines in Seattle’s first preseason game against the Pittsburgh Steelers with Lock going 11-for-15 with 102 passing yards and two touchdowns and Smith going 10-for-15 with 101 passing yards. The offense moved the ball well and scored 25 points on the road against the Steelers, but that wasn’t enough to get the job done in a 32-25 loss.

Seattle fell to 4-8 SU and ATS over its last 12 preseason games with the loss as a 2-point road underdog. The Seahawks used to be a dominant preseason team with a 9-1 SU and 8-2 ATS record in the 10 preseason games prior to the start of the 2018 season, but recent results have been far more underwhelming.

Bears vs Seahawks Pick & Insights

Bears: Keys To Cover

Seattle’s defense got torched for 409 total yards, including 185 rushing yards, against the Steelers. If the Bears can establish their running game early on Thursday, they could control the tempo of the game and either cover the spread or win outright as a Bears vs Seahawks prediction.

Seahawks: Keys To Cover

Seattle’s quarterback competition is wide open between Drew Lock and Geno Smith. The Seahawks will want to give both the chance to run the offense with as many looks as possible, so expect plenty of offense from Seattle again on Thursday night, which could lead to victory as a Bears vs Seahawks pick.
