    All eyes will be on Dallas quarterback Dak Prescott this week as he tests his injured thumb that has kept him out of action for the last four weeks. Prescott is expected to start throwing at practice on Wednesday and could be a game-time decision, so his status will obviously be worth monitoring closely.

    The point spread is down to -4.5 in favor of Philadelphia in early wagering, and the total has dropped more than three points down to 42 as well.

    Defensively, the Cowboys just shut down the defending Super Bowl champion Los Angeles Rams in an impressive 22-10 road win last week, which is one reason the total has fallen. The UNDER is also 5-2 in the past seven meetings at Lincoln Financial Field.

    Dallas Defense Carries Team in Prescott’s Absence

    Prescott was not playing well in the season-Sportsbook loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers before he got hurt, but the defense has been outstanding all season even despite that defeat.

    The Cowboys have not surrendered more than 19 points in any of their first five games, and they have allowed an average of 13.25 during their winning streak. However, they will be facing one of the league’s early MVP candidates here in Philadelphia quarterback Jalen Hurts, who has been extremely dangerous with his legs and his arm.

    Dallas will need to make Hurts one-dimensional in this one, and Micah Parsons will be responsible for keeping him in the pocket and preventing him from taking off running.

    Eagles Looking Like Legit Super Bowl Contenders

    It is easy to see why Philadelphia is the favorite to win the NFC as the NFL’s only remaining undefeated team, but the team’s great play on both sides of the ball has given the City of Brotherly Love reason to hope for another Vince Lombardi Trophy.

    Hurts has been fantastic in his third season while the defense of the Eagles has kept them in games, especially last week when the offense was not at its best. Philadelphia edged the Arizona Cardinals 20-17 but failed to beat the spread as a 5.5-point road favorite, ending the team’s three-game cover streak.

    This will be the second divisional game for the Eagles and third for the Cowboys, who are 2-0 vs NFC East teams and 2-0 on the road.

    Cowboys: Keys To Victory

    Hurts only has four touchdown passes this season and two interceptions compared to six scores on the ground. The priority for the Dallas D is to keep him from running the ball and make him take chances through the air.

    If the Cowboys can hold him in check as a runner, then they will be more than happy to make him try to beat them as a passer. That would give them a good shot to pull off the upset and move into a tie for the division lead.

    Eagles: Keys To Victory

    Philadelphia’s biggest key to victory is also on the defensive side of the ball. If Prescott suits up, the Eagles will need to pressure him like the Buccaneers did in Week 1. Even when healthy, Prescott has looked uncomfortable at times in the pocket and has trouble with his decision-making.

    If Rush is still the starter, they must make him challenge the secondary because he is less of a threat as a runner. Rush has been a solid game manager with no interceptions this season, so forcing turnovers could be the difference.
