The Denver Broncos (3-7 SU, 3-7 ATS) are 6-1 SU in their last seven games against the Panthers (3-8, 5-6) and 4-1 ATS in their last five against Carolina. The Broncos hope that those trends continue with a win and cover as a Broncos vs Panthers prediction this Sunday in Carolina.
Broncos vs Panthers Opening Odds
The Broncos vs Panthers odds remained steady early in the week after opening with Denver as a 2.5-point road favorite. Points are expected to be at a premium in this matchup with the total set at only 36 points. The UNDER is 4-1 in Carolina’s last 5 home games.
Denver Still Looking For Answers On Offense After Another Loss
The Broncos looked to be on their way to a win at home over the Las Vegas Raiders with a 16-13 lead and under two minutes remaining. The Raiders managed to tie the game with a field goal, however, and then scored a touchdown in overtime to win 22-16. Denver fell to 1-6 SU and 2-5 ATS over its last seven games with the loss.
Denver ranks dead last in the NFL in scoring, averaging only 14.7 points per game. And after Melvin Gordon fumbled on Sunday for the fifth time this season, the Broncos waived the veteran running back on Monday. That leaves 32-year-old Latavius Murray as the last man standing in Denver’s backfield with Gordon waived and Javonte Williams, Chase Edmonds and Mike Boone all injured.
Carolina Continues To Pick Up ATS Wins After Christian McCaffrey Trade
The Panthers couldn’t get anything going on offense, scoring only three points on Sunday against the Baltimore Ravens. But with the defense holding Baltimore to only 13 points, Carolina did manage to cover the spread as a 12.5-point underdog in the 13-3 loss. Carolina is now 2-3 SU and 4-1 ATS over its last five games since going 1-12 SU and ATS in its previous 13.
While the defense played great, this was a disappointing step in the wrong direction for the offense. D’Onta Foreman, who had rushed for 118 yards or more in three of his previous four starts, was held to only 24 yards on 11 carries against Baltimore. Baker Mayfield also struggled at quarterback with just 196 passing yards, two interceptions and no touchdown passes.
Broncos: Keys to Win
Denver’s defense has put the Broncos in position to win all season long while the offense hasn’t converted. Facing a Carolina offense without much threat of a passing attack, the Broncos should be able to have another strong day on defense and leave the offense with a pretty low bar to clear to win as a Broncos vs Panthers prediction.
Panthers: Keys to Win
Carolina has allowed 15 points or less in three of its last five games and will have an easy assignment on Sunday against the NFL’s worst offense. In what should be a very low-scoring game, the Panthers will need D’Onta Foreman to return to form to scratch out enough offense to win as a Broncos vs Panthers pick.
