It’s too bad that the Colts and Broncos are playing in a dome on Thursday because the only thing that might make this game more interesting is another blizzard. Both already eliminated from postseason contention, Denver and Indy have combined 2-15 SU and 4-13 ATS records since October 15 – this one wasn’t much fun to handicap.
SHARK BITES
The Colts’ last 5 games have gone UNDER the total.
Denver ended a 7-game ATS losing streak vs Indianapolis when they played last season.
The UNDER is 6-1 in the past 7 games when the Colts are home underdogs.
So, is there a bet that makes sense for this absolute clunker of a prime-time game? I think so, but you’re not going to like it.
Indy opened the contest as a 2.5-point underdog and while that’s not a bad shout, it’s the UNDER that’s calling my name with two of the worst offenses in the NFL going head-to-head on Thursday.
2017 has been anything but a good year for quarterbacks and Trevor Siemian and Jacoby Brissett have been no exceptions – they’ve been total bums. The former has been a frequenter of the soup kitchen when he’s played on the road this season with a 57.8 passer rating away from Mile High. For those who don’t know what that means – it’s really bad.
It’s not much better on the blue side of this matchup of ponies with Brissett sitting just behind Blake Bortles in the rankings for yards per attempt. Indy has averaged just 14 points over its five-game UNDER streak and that’s unlikely to improve against a Broncos’ ball-stopping unit that still does a good job.
A decent opportunity for live-betting, though, that could make this matchup watchable from a really sadistic standpoint is picking some spots to take each team to go three-and-out. TNF could be a punter’s showcase and I’d like to profit from that.
