Denver News & Notes

Last Sunday’s 26-24 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars was very similar to the team’s 16-14 loss to the Chicago Bears in Week 2. In both instances, Joe Flacco led the offense down the field to score a go-ahead touchdown in the closing moments of the game, only for the defense to allow the opposing team to drive down the field for a game-winning field goal.

These losses just go to show that Denver’s once-elite defense isn’t what it used to be. The Broncos now hit the road, where their games have been less competitive, to face the Chargers. Denver is 0-4 SU and ATS over its last four games and 1-9 SU and 2-8 ATS in its last 10 games as a road underdog.

Los Angeles News & Notes

After playing three straight competitive games – an overtime win at home against Indianapolis, a 13-10 loss at Detroit and a 27-20 loss at home against Houston – the Chargers took advantage of their game against the pitiful Miami Dolphins last Sunday to score a 30-10 win as 15-point road favorites. Austin Ekeler rushed for 60 yards and a touchdown and caught five passes for 62 yards and a touchdown in the win.

It will be interesting to see how many reps Melvin Gordon gets against Denver after not being used at all against the Dolphins. Gordon ended his holdout last Thursday, but Ekeler has looked sharp in his absence. Los Angeles is 2-6 SU and ATS in its last eight games against the Broncos at home.

Betting Pick: Chargers -6.5

After suffering another heartbreaking loss, the Broncos are 0-4 and their season is already over. Los Angeles figures to be the more focused and determined team on Sunday, which should lead to a win and cover.
