Jerry Jeudy and the Denver Broncos take on the New York Giants in a Week 1 matchup.

The Broncos look to end their season-opening skid by winning their first season opener since 2018. On the other side, the Giants are hopeful Daniel Jones can take a leap and start their year off on the right note after covering in just three of their eight home games last season.

Opening Odds Analysis

After naming Teddy Bridgewater their starting quarterback, it isn’t surprising to see the Broncos are 2.5-point favorites. After all, the Broncos are 4-1 ATS in their last five matchups against the Giants. Despite that, the action is split almost down the middle with 51 percent placed on the Broncos.

Denver News & Notes

Fresh off naming Bridgewater their starter, the Broncos enter their first game of the year with a clean injury report. They will have their full complement of players available to them, which gives them a better chance to score Sunday. Coming into their game Sunday, the Broncos total has gone OVER in five of their last seven games.

On defense, the Broncos looked downright dominant in the preseason. That doesn’t always translate, but it is worth noting they did not allow a single touchdown in their three games. Combine that with the knowledge of head coach Vic Fangio on defense and the propensity of Daniel Jones to turn the ball over, and picking the Broncos D/ST in any fantasy league seems like a good choice.

New York News & Notes

Going into the third year for Daniel Jones, it is now put-up-or-shut-up time. There is also a solid chance that running back Saquon Barkley will be suiting up for Sunday’s matchup. Despite that, I would avoid Barkley for this matchup in DFS. I would be hesitant of his workload in the first game back from his knee injury last year.

On the defensive side of things, Adoree Jackson looks like he should be a go as well, giving the Giants a very deep secondary. Despite adding Jackson, I would avoid the Giants D/ST props or for DFS. Bridgewater rarely turns the ball over, which will leave you relying heavily on the Giants allowing fewer points to create value, something that is a tough ask for any defense.

Staff Betting Pick: Broncos -2.5

Both teams come into this game looking to get off on the right foot after dismal seasons last year. The spread as usual feels about right as it is hard to get a feel on both groups. That being said, I have more faith in the Broncos to avoid big mistakes with Bridgewater under center than I do with Jones, who is likely to turn the ball over at least once.
