Detroit News & Notes

All 11 of Detroit’s points last week came in the fourth quarter long after the game was decided in a 34-11 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. Jared Goff went 28-for-42 for 202 yards, no touchdowns and one interception. Goff has gone without a touchdown pass in three of his last four starts and Detroit is now 0-10 SU and 5-5 ATS over its last 10 games.

The Lions scored 33 points against the San Francisco 49ers in their season opener. Since then, however, Detroit has averaged only 15.2 points per game and hasn’t scored over 17 points in any of the team’s last five games.

While the defense has had its ups and downs, the offense has been pretty consistently down with Goff playing poorly in the passing game and a rushing attack averaging an underwhelming 91.8 yards per game.

Los Angeles News & Notes

The Rams coasted to an easy 38-11 win over the New York Giants on Sunday. Matthew Stafford completed 22 of 28 passes for 251 yards and four passing touchdowns.

Cooper Kupp had another monster day as well with nine receptions for 130 yards and two touchdowns. Kupp is averaging 108.8 receiving yards per game and over a touchdown a game.

Stafford and Kupp will be popular choices in daily fantasy sports lineups around the nation this Sunday. Detroit’s defense has been picked apart for 384.5 total yards and 28.7 points per game this season.

Los Angeles, meanwhile, ranks eighth in the NFL in total offense with 401 yards per game and sixth in scoring with 29.8 points per game. This could be a long day for the Lions.

Why Detroit Will Cover

Detroit is getting an awful lot of points at +15 in this one. For as bad as they’ve looked in some games, the Lions have been competitive in others, including 19-17 losses against both Minnesota and Baltimore. The Lions aren’t going to score much on this Rams defense, so the path to a cover will include a strong defensive effort.

Why Los Angeles Will Cover

The Rams have shown what they can do against bad teams this season with a 34-14 win over Chicago and a 38-11 win over the Giants on their game log. Los Angeles has the capacity to dominate this game en route to a blowout with its best effort on Sunday.
