Detroit’s Offense Is On A Roll Out Of The Gate

The Lions did enough on offense to win in their season opener against the Philadelphia Eagles, but a rough day on defense left the team on the wrong side of a 38-35 final score. Detroit did bounce back with a win last Sunday, however, defeating the Washington Commanders 36-27 at home in a game that closed as a pick’em. Jared Goff went 20-for-34 with 256 passing yards, four passing touchdowns and no interceptions in the win.

With a 2-0 ATS start to this season and a 7-2 ATS run down the stretch last year, the Lions have made for a profitable bet with a 9-2 ATS record in their last 11 games despite only four outright wins over that stretch. Detroit’s upside is limited by its shaky defense, but there is clearly enough talent on offense here to at least make games interesting.

Kirk Cousins’ Monday Night Woes Continued Last Week

In what many were expecting to be a close and competitive game on Monday night, the Vikings never really got anything going in a 24-7 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. Kirk Cousins had a rough night, going 27-for-46 with only 221 passing yards, one passing touchdown and three interceptions. With the ugly loss, Cousins fell to 2-10 SU and ATS in his 12 career appearances on Monday Night Football.

Cousins will have a much more favorable defensive matchup this Sunday against the Lions. As will Justin Jefferson, who was held to six catches and 48 receiving yards against the Eagles after lighting up the Green Bay secondary with 184 receiving yards and two touchdown catches in Week 1. Minnesota is 4-1 SU and ATS in its last five games at home.

Lions: Keys To Win

The recipe for success has become pretty clear for the Lions: they need to outshoot their opponents. Detroit beat Minnesota 29-27 the last time these teams met in Detroit, and it will likely take a similar performance in a high-scoring game to win as a Lions vs Vikings prediction this Sunday.

Vikings: Keys To Win

Minnesota’s defense should be able to come up with more stops than Detroit’s in this matchup. If Kirk Cousins plays better and the Vikings are able to get Dalvin Cook and the running game going early, they should be in good shape to pick up a win and cover as a Lions vs Vikings pick at home.
