  • After being humbled last week in San Francisco, the Packers look to get back on track when they visit Daniel Jones and the struggling Giants. New York has lost seven straight and is 1-8 ATS in its last nine games as a home underdog.

    Sportsbook Odds Analysis

    This line opened before the Packers took the field in a 37-8 loss at San Francisco on Sunday Night Football. After seeing the Green Bay offense struggle so badly, oddsmakers moved the line down to -6.5 at Sportsbook. The total has also dropped from the opener, moving to 45 by Monday evening.

    Could it be that the return of star wideout Davante Adams actually derailed the Packers offense? That’s one theory behind the recent woes of Green Bay’s attack, which was humiliated Sunday night in San Francisco. The Packers failed to convert on any of their 13 third-down opportunities while Aaron Rodgers was in the game, and Rodgers finished with just 104 passing yards, getting sacked five times and losing a fumble.

    When Adams was out of the lineup for four games earlier this year, the Packers were averaging more than 30 points per contest. Since he returned, Green Bay has averaged 14.3 points per game.

    There’s speculation that Rodgers is looking for his favorite target a bit too much and not spreading the ball around to his other weapons, such as running back Aaron Jones (one reception in the last three weeks after catching 34 balls in his first eight games).

    New York News & Notes

    The seat is getting hot for second-year head coach Pat Shurmur after New York’s seventh straight loss, a 19-14 defeat in Chicago when the Giants had just 14 first downs.

    But Shurmur isn’t exactly getting a lot of help from his players, either. Particularly his former Pro Bowl kicker, Aldrick Rosas, whose two missed field goals accounted for the difference in the loss. Rosas has hit just 67 percent of his field goals on the year, and he also booted a kickoff out of bounds last week to set the Bears offense up at its own 40.

    Saquon Barkley continues to be hobbled by a high ankle sprain suffered in Week 3, failing to run for more than 72 yards in a game since Sportsbook the season with back-to-back 100-yard outings. New York’s offense hasn’t been the same since either, and now the Giants could be without Golden Tate this week after the wideout suffered a concussion last week against the Bears.

    New York is also expected to be without one of its top defensive players, safety Jabrill Peppers, who suffered a fracture in his back vs Chicago.

    Betting Pick: Packers -6.5

    Home field hasn’t been an advantage for the Giants in the underdog role, and I don’t see the home fans having much to cheer about in this one either.
