Harry’s 2020 NFL Schedule Recap & Hypothetical Prop Shop

Harry's 2020 NFL Schedule Recap

Pandemic or not, the release of the NFL schedule always gives me chills on finding out who plays where and when. I will get to my games that caught my eye in a second but in watching ESPN’s coverage, they did make a point that we should all consider.

If for any reason the season is pushed back, Week 1 could turn into Week 18, and Week 2’s games could be Week 19’s contests and so on and so forth. We all hope that isn’t the case, but it was a situation that we as fans and gamblers needed to be made aware of.

Early on Thursday morning (May 7) I tweeted out that the Houston Texans would be starting the season in Kansas City against the Chiefs on Thursday, September 10. I happened to be correct as this will be an interesting rematch of the wild playoff game from a season ago in which the Texans were up 24-0 and ended up losing 51-31.

Also in Week 1, the upstart Miami Dolphins will have a rematch from Week 17 of last year when they upset the Patriots in New England and knocked them out of the 2 seed in the AFC playoffs.

The Jets and Bills will start their campaigns for the second straight season in Week 1 and since we are talking about the number 1, how about No. 1 overall draft pick Joe Burrow of LSU leading his Cincinnati Bengals up against the Philip Rivers-less Los Angeles Chargers.

To conclude Week 1, the Cowboys will invade Los Angeles to take on the Rams in their new stadium on Sunday Night Football. In all this excitement the traditional Monday night doubleheader has a couple of average matchups with the return of “Big Ben” and the Steelers taking on the troubled New York Giants and in the nightcap the Tennessee Titans traveling to Denver to take on the Broncos.

As we move on, there are definitely some key games along the way such as in Week 2 on Monday night when the Saints and Drew Brees will play in Allegiant Stadium to take on the Las Vegas, yes, that is correct, in fact everyone say it with me, the LAS VEGAS Raiders.

In Week 1 and 9 the Saints will be taking on Tom Brady and the Buccaneers (Week 9 is on Sunday night). These will be a couple of epic matchups with Brady and Brees having combined for 1,088 touchdown passes in their illustrious careers. In their Week 1 matchup, the Saints are currently a 6.5-point favorite at home. That will mark the first time in 75 games that Tom Brady has been an underdog in a game.

Week 13 will mark probably the best Thursday night game when the Cowboys and rookie wideout CeeDee Lamb travel east to take on Lamar Jackson and the stacked Baltimore Ravens. The Thanksgiving Day games will have the Texans in Detroit, the Redskins in “Big D” to take on the Cowboys and in the final game the Ravens will be in Pittsburgh.

The late turkey day game the past two seasons has been New Orleans against Atlanta, but it seems the Saints will be on national TV plenty, so I guess the schedule makers switched things up by giving the AFC the last game on the holiday. We even have a game on a Friday (the first Friday game in the NFL since 2009), when the Vikings take on the Saints – a playoff rematch on Christmas Day.

Harry’s Top Five Monday Night Games

1. Week 3 - Chiefs @ Ravens

This is looking like the game of the year with Mahomes against Jackson.

2. Week 12 - Seahawks @ Eagles

These two played twice last year in Philly, with the Seahawks prevailing both times.

3. Week 13 - Bills @ 49ers

East meets West in a clash of two spectacular defenses.

4. Week 6 - Cardinals @ Cowboys

Dallas better look out for the Cardinals’ explosive offense.

5. Week 5 - Rams @ Buccaneers

The Tampa Bay Bucs are now the darlings of the NFL, a spot the Rams held two seasons ago.

Harry’s Top Five Sunday Night Games

1. Week 3 - Packers @ Saints

Rodgers vs Brees, enough said.

2. Week 9 - Saints @ Buccaneers

Brees vs Brady, enough said again.

3. Week 15 - 49ers @ Cowboys

It will be great to see Dallas try to score with their high-powered offense against a top-notch defense in San Francisco.

4. Week 5 - Vikings @ Seahawks

It’s always exciting when Seattle plays at home in prime time. Cousins against Wilson will be a blast.

5. Week 10 - Rams @ Patriots

By Week 10 it’s anyone’s guess where either of these teams will be in the standings.
