The Jacksonville Jaguars (2-2 SU, 2-2 ATS), the new favorites to win the AFC South, travel back home to the Sunshine State to take on the divisional rival Houston Texans (0-3-1, 2-1-1). With both squads coming off losses, this week could prove to be a pivotal one as the other teams in the division struggle to keep their heads above water.
Texans vs Jaguars Opening Odds
Bettors have flocked to bet the home team in this contest, with the Jaguars opening at -7 and remaining steady. Some, though, may be waiting for this line to move a half-point in either direction in order to attack. Despite their record, the Texans have been a surprisingly solid team ATS.

Texans Look To Snag First Win Of Season On Road Against Divisional Foe
Despite putting up 17 points in a strong second half, the Texans were unable to come back at home against the Los Angeles Chargers, losing 34-24 to drop their record to 0-3-1.
Davis Mills threw 26 completions on 35 attempts for 246 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. The biggest offensive play came courtesy of the feet of Dameon Pierce as he scampered for a 75-yard touchdown, the largest chunk of the 131 yards he gained on the ground on 14 carries.
Although they gave up 34 points, there were some positives for the Houston defense, which forced two Chargers turnovers. More of the same will need to be in store if they are to win their first game of the season or improve their record to 3-1-1 ATS.
Jaguars’ Offensive Line In Need Of Rebound Game After Getting Manhandled In Philadelphia
After taking a 14-0 lead on the road against the Eagles, the Jaguars fell flat in the final three quarters and ultimately lost 29-21.
The offensive line was partially to blame as quarterback Trevor Lawrence was consistently under duress, getting sacked four times and pressured plenty more. He connected on only 11 of 23 pass attempts for 174 yards, two touchdowns and an interception, enduring his worst game of the season.
A return home should prove to be a remedy for the Jags, who are only two weeks removed from throttling the Chargers in Los Angeles. After battling difficult weather conditions in Philly, the Jaguars offense should be able to get back on track against a susceptible Texans defense.
Texans: Keys To Win
Just as the Eagles did, the Texans will have to get after Trevor Lawrence early and often. With Davis Mills capable of putting 20-plus points on the board, any turnovers will be vital for the Texans’ chances to cover the +7 spread and possibly capture their first victory of the season.
Jaguars: Keys To Win
Protect the quarterback. If the Jaguars keep Lawrence on his feet, it will be extremely difficult for the Texans to stay in this game. The Jacksonville signal-caller was under constant pressure in Philadelphia and the result was four lost fumbles, the most in the modern era of the NFL.
