Sportsbook Odds Analysis

The Titans opened as 3.5-point favorites in this matchup before question marks about Carson Wentz’s health helped push the line up to Tennessee -5.5. The potential absence of Wentz has also had a major impact on the total, dropping it down to 48 points after it opened at 52.5 points.

Indianapolis News & Notes

Carson Wentz went 20-for-31 with 247 passing yards, one touchdown pass and one interception in last Sunday’s 27-24 loss to the Los Angeles Rams. Wentz led the Colts on a game-tying field-goal drive in the fourth quarter before being forced out of the game with an ankle injury. Backup quarterback Jacob Eason went 2-for-5 with an interception in relief of Wentz.

It was revealed after the game that Wentz had suffered sprains in both ankles. He is questionable to play Sunday and will be replaced by Eason again if he is unable to go. Injuries have been a consistent issue for Wentz throughout his career as the former Eagle played only two full 16-game seasons through his first five years in the league.

Tennessee News & Notes

Derrick Henry rushed for only 58 yards on 17 carries in Tennessee’s disappointing 38-13 season-Sportsbook loss against the Arizona Cardinals. It looked as though the Titans might be on their way to another blowout loss last Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks when they entered halftime with a 24-9 deficit. But Tennessee kept feeding Henry the ball in the second half and eventually erased that deficit en route to a 33-30 overtime win on the road.

Henry finished the day with 183 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns on 35 carries while adding six receptions for 55 yards. Julio Jones also had a big day in the win with six catches for 128 receiving yards. There is plenty of reason to be optimistic about this Titans offense in 2021, but the first two weeks on defense have left a lot to be desired.

Staff Betting Pick: OVER 48 points

Tennessee’s defense has been bad enough this season that it’s safe to count on Indianapolis to have some success on offense this weekend even if Wentz is unable to start. And with a stacked offense featuring the best running back in football, the Titans should be able to do the rest in pushing this one OVER the posted total.
