Raiders Are Favored Against Jags In Last Oakland Home Game

The Raiders are playing their final home game in Oakland on Sunday. While they’ve had three straight lopsided losses, they face a Jaguars team that has been equally bad. With only pride on the line, expect the Raiders to put on a show for the fans one last time.

Jacksonville Jaguars vs Oakland Raiders

Sportsbook Odds Analysis

Both teams have been getting blown out lately, but the Raiders have something left to play for and have been good at home, so they opened as 6-point favorites. The total opened at 45.5 points, which seems a little low for two defenses that simply cannot stop anyone right now … although both offenses have struggled as well.

Jacksonville News & Notes

When the Jaguars got quarterback Nick Foles back from injury in Week 11, they thought it was the key piece to turn their season around and make a run at the AFC South.

Three weeks — and three lopsided losses — later, Foles was benched and Gardner Minshew was reinstated as the starter. It did nothing to change the Jaguars’ fortunes last week, however, as Jacksonville suffered its worst loss of the season in a 45-10 humiliation at home against the Chargers.

The once-fearsome Jaguars defense yielded a season-high 525 yards to Los Angeles, while the offense looked entirely out of sync for the fifth straight game. Despite having one of the AFC’s premier running backs in Leonard Fournette, the Jaguars failed to top 88 team rushing yards for the fourth time in five games, while also topping 13 points just once in that stretch.

The Jaguars are now failing to even be competitive, especially when they’re underdogs, as they’re 0-5 SU and ATS in their last five games in that situation. As an underdog on Sunday on the road in the final game for the “Black Hole,” Jacksonville will have to dig deep to put forth a respectable effort.

Oakland News & Notes

Entering Week 13 the Raiders were 6-4 and in the thick of the AFC West divisional race. Since then they’ve not only lost three straight, but lost them badly — getting outscored 116-33 in those games, with the most recent being a 42-21 loss to Tennessee.

The good news was Oakland’s offense topped 20 points for the first time in four games, despite star rookie running back Josh Jacobs missing the game with a broken shoulder and right tackle Trent Brown sitting the game with a pectoral injury. The bad news is their defense again provided no resistance and now has allowed the fifth-most points and yards in the league.

While the playoffs are no longer a possibility, the Raiders still have one thing to play for — pride in what will be their final home game at Oakland-Alameda Coliseum. The Raiders are 10-2 SU in their last 12 home games against teams with losing records, so hopefully they can give the fans an enjoyable final send-off.

Betting Pick: Raiders -6

Jacksonville seems to have given up on the season, while the Raiders will come out fired up in their final home game in Oakland. I believe in that momentum and I’ll take the Raiders to cover.
