Sportsbook Odds Analysis

The Seahawks opened as 3.5-point favorites at home before the line settled in at Seattle -3. The total has remained steady since Sportsbook at 43.5 points in this matchup. Jacksonville is 1-13 ATS in its last 14 games against NFC West teams.

Jacksonville News & Notes

Jacksonville finally won a game. After going 0-20 SU and 7-13 ATS across their previous 20 games, the Jaguars edged out the Miami Dolphins 23-20 on October 17 to earn their first win since September 2020. The upset win as 1.5-point underdogs also marked just the third time in the team’s last 10 games that Jacksonville has covered the spread.

Trevor Lawrence went 25-for-41 in the win with 319 passing yards, a touchdown and no interceptions. The rookie quarterback has made far better decisions over his last three games than he did in his first three, throwing only one interception over that stretch after throwing seven through his first three starts.

Jacksonville has gone 8-2-1 ATS in its last 11 games coming off a bye week.

Seattle News & Notes

Few teams were less equipped to handle a serious injury to their quarterback than Seattle was. Russell Wilson has routinely bailed his defense out of trouble and overcome issues with his offensive line in recent years. Monday night’s 13-10 loss to the New Orleans Saints just isn’t a game that the Seahawks lose if Wilson is under center.

Geno Smith hasn’t been terrible at all. In three starts, he has recorded 507 passing yards, three passing touchdowns and one interception. But he has also led the Seahawks to only 15.7 points per game and two straight losses by a field goal.

Smith’s game-managing style might have worked back in the days when the Seahawks had an elite defense, but nowadays Seattle needs more from its offense to win games.

How Jacksonville Will Cover

The Jaguars have played well enough to win in two of their last three games, beating Miami by three points and losing to the Cincinnati Bengals by three. Another solid effort off the bye could be enough to beat this struggling Seahawks team.

How Seattle Will Cover

Home-field advantage could play a major role in this one. If the “12th man” in Seattle can shake Trevor Lawrence up and the Seahawks play as well on defense as they did against the Saints, Seattle could come out of this one with a win and cover in a low-scoring affair.
