Odds on Which NFL Team Josh Gordon Will Play For Next

Josh Gordon Odds

Josh Gordon is widely known as one of the most talented, yet most troubled wide receivers in the NFL. With the New England Patriots announcing they’re releasing the speedster, odds are out on which team he’ll end up on.

Bovada has tabbed the Philadelphia Eagles as the +280 favorites to sign Gordon, with the Seattle Seahawks (+300), New Orleans Saints (+350), Carolina Panthers (+700), Buffalo Bills (+700), Green Bay Packers (+800) and Baltimore Ravens (+800) making up the rest of the list.

The embattled wideout’s time with the Patriots came to an end on Thursday and he’s now subject to waivers. Gordon, who’s been dealing with a knee injury after leaving the Patriots’ Week 6 game against the New York Giants, is reportedly healthy and will be ready to go. He could be claimed by a new team as early as Friday, November 1.

Talent Has Never Been Gordon’s Issue

Gordon caught 20 receptions for 287 yards and a touchdown in six contests with New England this season. In his seven-year career spent with the Patriots and Cleveland Browns, he has 4,113 receiving yards and 20 touchdowns. There’s no denying Gordon’s pure athleticism, but his inability to stay on the field due to personal and substance abuse issues over the years might make some clubs wary of him.

Considering Gordon is set to hit waivers, the worst teams in the NFL will have the first crack at the 28-year-old. If a squad claims Gordon, it would be responsible for paying the rest of his contract. He’s still owed a little over $1 million this season and will be an unrestricted free agent in the offseason.

Lowly Dolphins Expect to Pass on ‘Flash’

Despite being first in line on the waiver wire, the Miami Dolphins are likely to pass on Gordon, according to the Sun Sentinel. Gordon has ties to the current Dolphins coaching staff, including head coach Brian Flores and offensive coordinator Chad O’Shea, but the Fins reportedly believe Gordon is not worth the risk.

The Eagles haven’t had the services of DeSean Jackson since Week 1, and Nelson Agholor has been a major letdown in the City of Brotherly Love this year. Philly is in the thick of the NFC East race with the Dallas Cowboys, and adding Gordon would certainly provide a major weapon on offense for the Birds. Whether or not he’ll still be there on the waiver wire when it comes to them remains to be seen, however.
