Chiefs Look for Revenge in Difficult Road Contest Against AFC Foe

Now Sportsbooks of five straight, the Chiefs go on the road after beating the visiting Los Angeles Rams and backup quarterback Bryce Perkins 26-10.

MVP favorite Patrick Mahomes completed 27 of 42 pass attempts for 320 yards, one score and one interception. The one pick and KC’s relative ineffectiveness in the red zone was the main reason the contest was as close as it was.

The production of Isiah Pacheco in the backfield has been a welcome sight as Andy Reid continues to put more trust in the rookie running back, who has been able to alleviate some of the pressure on Mahomes. Pacheco carried the ball 22 times for 69 yards and a score against the Rams.

With Travis Kelce, JuJu Smith-Schuster, Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Skyy Moore all getting involved in the pass game, the Kansas City offense continues to thrive, ranking first in scoring, passing yards and yards per play. More of the same will be needed if they are to avenge two losses to the Bengals last season, including the 27-24 overtime defeat in the AFC title tilt.

Bengals Offense Rolling into Rematch With Reinforcements On the Way

Don’t look now, but the Cincinnati Bengals are flying high. Sportsbooks of three in a row and five of their last six, the Bengals are coming off a tough 20-16 road win over the Tennessee Titans in which the team’s supporting cast stepped up in the absence of Ja’Marr Chase and Joe Mixon.

Both are expected to return in Week 13, providing more options for quarterback Joe Burrow, who has been terrific of late. Burrow effectively managed the game in Nashville, taking what the Titans defense gave him as he completed 22 of 37 passes for 270 yards and a score.

With Mixon out, Samaje Perine has been effective, following up a strong game in Pittsburgh with 58 rushing yards and 35 receiving yards and a touchdown against the Titans. Meanwhile, Tee Higgins has been Burrow’s No. 1 target with back-to-back 100-yard games and scored a major vs Tennessee.

The Bengals are third in scoring offense, fourth in passing yards and second in time of possession. Expect the Cincinnati attack to be highly effective in this potential playoff matchup.

Chiefs: Keys to Win

It’s hard to imagine a team with more weapons than the Chiefs, but the Bengals have them. In order to slow Cincinnati down, Kansas City must win the time of possession battle, a category in which they rank seventh in the NFL. This is where the Bengals squeeze the life out of opponents, but if their offense is not on the field, they can do no damage.

Bengals: Keys to Win

Stopping Travis Kelce and making one of the wide receivers beat them should be the Bengals’ main goal. Slot corner Mike Hilton may serve as a key player in this one. Mahomes has been known for the occasional wayward throw and just one may be enough to tilt the tide in the direction of Cincinnati.
