Kansas City Looks To End Its Struggles Against Tampa Bay

Kansas City Chiefs vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers Betting Preview

The Kansas City Chiefs haven’t beaten Tampa Bay since September 5, 1993, going 0-5 SU and 1-4 ATS in their last five games against the Buccaneers. Patrick Mahomes will try to snap this losing streak and outduel Tom Brady when the Chiefs visit the Bucs on Sunday.

Opening Odds Analysis

Since opening as a 2.5-point road favorite, the Chiefs have been bet up to -3.5 favorites. Early bettors have also pounded the OVER since the total opened at 51.5 points, driving the line all the way up to 56 points. This will be just the third time this season that the Buccaneers are underdogs, and they are 1-1 SU and ATS in their previous two instances as one.

Kansas City News & Notes

The Las Vegas Raiders took a 31-28 lead over the Chiefs with just 1:43 left on the clock last Sunday night. Unfortunately for the Raiders, that was way too much time for Patrick Mahomes, who effortlessly drove Kansas City down the field on a 75-yard touchdown drive that took only seven plays and 75 seconds. The Chiefs held on for a 35-31 victory, picking up their fifth straight win despite failing to cover the spread as 7.5-point favorites.

Kansas City is now 9-1 SU and 6-4 ATS on the season. The Chiefs offense is averaging 36.5 points per game over the team’s last four games and Mahomes now has 3,035 passing yards, 27 touchdown passes and only two interceptions in 2020. Andy Reid’s squad is a staggering 18-1 SU and 15-4 ATS over its last 19 games.

Tampa Bay News & Notes

For the second time in his last three games, Tom Brady did not look good at all in Tampa Bay’s 27-24 loss to the Los Angeles Rams on Monday night. Brady completed just 54.2 percent of his passes for 216 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions in the loss and has now thrown five interceptions in his last three games.

The Buccaneers have a top-10 defense that ranks fifth in the NFL in total yards allowed at 310.5 per game and 10th in scoring defense at 23 points per game. Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, Antonio Brown and Rob Gronkowski make up arguably the best receiving corps in the NFL. All of the pieces are in place for Tampa Bay to make a deep postseason run, but Brady will need to play better than he has of late to make that happen.

Betting Pick: Kansas City -3.5

It isn’t often you get the chance to bet on the Chiefs as such small favorites. They are 8-0 SU and ATS in their last eight games as a favorite of a touchdown or less. No need to overthink this one.
