Monday Night Football Betting

The Redskins upset the Eagles back in Week 4, and they'll get a chance to do it again on Monday night when Philly visits Washington as a 3-point favorite at Bovada.

Back in Week 4, Donovan McNabb made his return to Philadelphia as a member of the Redskins and Washington came away with a 17-12 win as a 5.5-point underdog. The real difference-maker in that game wasn't the play of McNabb, but an injury to Eagles QB Michael Vick, who is the subject of five separate prop odds, including passing yard totals (237.5) and rushing yard totals (44.5) over at Bovada tonight.

After leading Philadelphia to two straight wins Vick didn't get a chance to make it three versus the Redskins after getting knocked out early with a rib injury. [ Matchup report ] Without Vick the Eagles' offense sputtered and the Redskins held on for the upset victory.

Since that Week 4 win the Redskins are 2-2, and they're coming off their bye last week. Washington needed a break after an ugly 37-25 loss to Detroit in Week 8 as a 3-point underdog. McNabb passed for 210 yards with a touchdown and an interception, but finished the game on the bench as Rex Grossman took over late with Washington trailing by only five points.

Grossman immediately coughed the ball up and Detroit ran back his fumble for a touchdown.

McNabb has been battling hamstring pain in practice this week, but he won't be handing the starting job over the Grossman on Monday night. Also on the injury report for Washington this week are running backs Ryan Torain (hamstring) and Clinton Portis (groin). Portis is doubtful and likely won't suit up so Torain (probable) will get the bulk of the carries barring a setback. (Torain is the second choice at Bovada to be the first TD scorer tonight at 13/2 odds).

The Eagles welcomed back Vick last week for his first game since suffering that rib injury in Week 4. Vick led the Eagles to a 26-24 win over the Colts, but Philly failed to cover the 3-point spread. Vick passed for 218 yards with a touchdown strike and he also rushed for 74 yards and a score on 10 carries.

The Eagles also got DeSean Jackson back from a concussion and he didn't show any lingering effects while catching seven passes for 109 yards with a TD.

The Redskins may have won in Philadelphia in Week 4, but the Eagles have dominated this NFC East matchup in Washington for a few years now. In their last 10 games at Washington the Eagles are 8-2 SU and 6-4 ATS. Look for the Eagles to add another win in Washington tonight.

Totals bettors could have an easy UNDER on Monday night. In the last 10 games between Philadelphia and Washington the UNDER is 8-2, and in the last 20 the UNDER is 15-5. The Redskins have topped 20 points in only two of eight games this season, and this game looks like a near lock to go UNDER the 42.5-point total posted at Bovada.
