Monday Night Football Betting: Vikings at Bears

The Minnesota Vikings play their second Monday Night Football game of the season tonight when they travel to face the Chicago Bears.

The Vikings snapped a seven-game straight-up and against the spread losing streak on Monday nights earlier this season when they dominated the Giants 24-10 on Oct. 3. Now they must overcome a slew of injuries on offense and defense in order to beat the Bears.

If you like the Vikings, you may find some comfort in the fact they have won their last nine games against teams with losing records and the Bears are 1-6 this season. Chicago is also the worst bet in the NFL at 1-6 against the number.

Here are a few other betting notes heading into tonight’s game and be sure to check out the weekly preview & picks with @OddsSharkAlex and me that will be posted above later in the day.

Vikings-Bears betting notes:

  • Over 60 percent of the money is coming in on the UNDER in this game and the total has moved to 40.5 after Sportsbook at 41.
  • Over 70 percent of the money is coming in on the Vikings but the line varied from -4.5 to -6 as of Monday morning.
  • The Vikings have a slew of injuries on offense and defense and you can check them all out on our OddsShark matchup page. I feel the injuries are a big reason why Minnesota isn’t favored by more in this game.
  • The Vikings have a patchwork offensive line after injuries throughout the season. They gave up six sacks last week in a loss to the Eagles and recently signed Jake Long was a weak spot all game.
  • Minnesota is 10-1 against the spread in its last 11 games.
  • The Bears are the lowest-scoring team in the NFL this season with 15.9 points per game.
  • Jay Cutler makes his first start at quarterback since Week 2 for Chicago. Cutler won eight of his first 10 starts against the Vikings but has lost his last three meetings with them.
  • The Bears are 11-4 straight up in their last 15 Monday night games.
  • The UNDER is 4-1 in the last five meetings between these two teams.
