Saints Hope To Continue Recent Dominance vs Bears

The New Orleans Saints have won their last five games against the Chicago Bears, with a 2-0 SU and 1-1 ATS record in Chicago over that stretch. The Saints will try to extend their current three-game winning streak and their winning streak against the Bears with a road victory on Sunday in Chicago.

Sportsbook Odds Analysis

Despite failing to cover the spread as favorites in each of their last two games, the Saints still received heavy betting action as 3-point Sportsbook-line favorites in this one to bump the line up to New Orleans -4. The UNDER has also been a popular bet early in the week as the total opened at 45.5 points and has been bet down to 43.5 points. The OVER is 6-2 in New Orleans’ last eight games in Chicago.

New Orleans News & Notes

The Saints opened the 2020 season with a 34-23 home win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as 4-point home favorites and a 34-24 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders as 4-point road favorites.

Since then, all four of New Orleans’ games have been decided by a touchdown or less with a 37-30 loss to the Green Bay Packers, a 35-29 win against the Detroit Lions, a 30-27 win over the Los Angeles Chargers and a 27-24 win against the Carolina Panthers. New Orleans is just 1-2 ATS during its current three-game winning streak.

Drew Brees continues to play at a high level with the 41-year-old amassing 1,618 passing yards, a 72.6 percent completion rate, 11 passing touchdowns and only three interceptions so far in 2020.

On defense, New Orleans ranks seventh in the NFL in total defense, allowing 328.3 total yards per game, but has given up way too many points, ranking 24th in scoring defense by allowing 29 points per game.

Chicago News & Notes

Chicago had yet another dismal performance on offense in Monday night’s 24-10 loss to the Los Angeles Rams. The Bears rushed for only 49 yards and Nick Foles finished the night with 261 passing yards, no touchdowns and two interceptions.

Foles has been underwhelming since taking over the starting role from Mitchell Trubisky with three touchdown passes and five interceptions over his last four starts, leading the Bears to only 16 points per game over that stretch.

A strong defensive unit allowing 342 total yards and 20 points per game has led Chicago to a 5-2 SU and 4-3 ATS start to the 2020 season. But things could continue to trend in the wrong direction if the Bears don’t start figuring things out on offense.

Things could get even worse for the offense if star wideout Allen Robinson is unable to play. Robinson is currently listed as questionable for Sunday’s game with concussion-like symptoms.

Betting Pick: New Orleans -4

New Orleans has had a flair for the dramatic this season and could continue that trend with another too-close-for-comfort game against the Bears. But Drew Brees and the Saints have historically fared well against Chicago, and this year’s Bears unit doesn’t have the offense to keep up.
