New Orleans Favored To Snap Losing Streak Vs Jets

The New Orleans Saints (5-7 SU, 5-7 ATS) are road favorites Sunday despite having an 0-5 SU and 1-4 ATS record over their last five games. The Saints will try to earn their first win since October as guests of the New York Jets (3-9, 3-9).

Sportsbook Odds Analysis

The Saints opened as 6.5-point road favorites and have been bet down to New Orleans -5.5. The total in this matchup has remained steady since Sportsbook at 43.5 points. New Orleans is 4-1 ATS in its last five road games against New York.

New Orleans News & Notes

At first glance, Taysom Hill’s 264 passing yards, two passing touchdowns and 101 rushing yards against the Dallas Cowboys look pretty great. But that stat line came with an ugly 46.3 percent completion rate (19-for-41) and four interceptions in last Thursday night’s 27-17 loss.

Hill will have the chance to correct his mistakes and to prove himself as an NFL starter down the stretch in New Orleans with Jameis Winston out for the rest of the year with a knee injury.

The Saints defense allowed only 16.8 points per game through the team’s first six games of the season as New Orleans got off to a 4-2 SU and 3-3 ATS start. Since then, New Orleans is allowing 29.2 points per game and has gone 1-5 SU and 2-4 ATS.

New York News & Notes

The Jets fell to 3-9 SU and ATS on the season with a 33-18 loss at home to the Philadelphia Eagles last Sunday. New York couldn’t take advantage of Jalen Hurts’ absence as Gardner Minshew went 20-for-25 with 242 passing yards and two touchdowns against the Jets defense.

Zach Wilson wasn’t spectacular in the loss, but his 226 passing yards on 23-for-38 passing with two touchdowns, one interception and a rushing major was one of the best stat lines he has produced this season.

New York ranks dead last in both total defense and scoring defense, allowing 396.8 total yards and 30.6 points per game. The Jets also rank 26th in the NFL in scoring at 18.1 points per game, producing a -150 point differential that is second-worst only to the Houston Texans’ -159. Jets fans and backers are lucky to have three wins this season.

How New Orleans Will Cover

Taysom Hill is a dynamic player who can make big plays with both his arm and his legs. He should have a big day against this awful Jets defense, and the Saints can win and cover if he can limit the turnovers and force New York to keep pace on offense without help.

How New York Will Cover

The Jets are terrible, but the Saints haven’t been much better in recent weeks. Tevin Coleman and Zach Wilson both played fairly well against the Eagles and could lead New York to a cover if they can perform well against New Orleans’ struggling defense.
