Giants vs Bears Betting Odds Week 2 Mitch Trubisky

The Chicago Bears are just 2-4 SU and 1-5 ATS in their last six games against the New York Giants despite being favored in three of the last four. All four of those games were decided by six points or less, with the Bears most recently earning a 19-14 win over the Giants at home last season. The Bears will get another crack at the Giants in Chicago on Sunday afternoon.

Opening Odds Analysis

Early action on this game has slightly favored the Bears, moving Chicago up from a 5-point favorite to a 5.5-point favorite at home. Betting action has also come in on the UNDER in this one as the line now sits at 42 points, 1.5 points lower than its opener of 43.5 points. The underdog has covered the spread in each of the last four games between these two teams.

New York News & Notes

Saquon Barkley is one of the most explosive and versatile running backs in the NFL. But in Monday night’s 26-16 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, Barkley couldn’t get anything going from the line of scrimmage, carrying the ball 15 times for only six total rushing yards. He did finish the night with 60 receiving yards on six catches, but this was not the start to the season that Barkley and the offensive line was looking for.

New York ended last season on a 2-10 SU and 5-7 ATS skid and has now kicked off 2020 with another loss. The Giants have a 12-37 SU record since the start of the 2017 season and would love to start seeing some signs of a turnaround under new head coach Joe Judge.

Chicago News & Notes

Mitch Trubisky beat out Nick Foles for the starting job in Chicago this offseason and showed both his strengths and weaknesses in last Sunday’s 27-23 win over the Detroit Lions.

Trubisky had a brilliant fourth quarter to erase a 23-6 deficit, going 8-for-10 with 89 passing yards and three touchdown passes. But his play through the first three quarters was a major reason for the deficit as he was just 12-for-26 with 153 passing yards before the comeback.

Chicago missed the playoffs last season with an 8-8 SU and 4-12 ATS record despite ranking eighth in the NFL in total defense, allowing 324.1 total yards per game, and fourth in scoring defense, allowing 18.6 points per game. The Bears will need more consistent production from their offense in 2020 if they hope to return to the postseason.

Betting Pick: UNDER 42

Chicago’s defense should be able to hold New York’s offense in check on Sunday. Bettors who believe in the Bears offense could roll with Chicago -5.5, but the UNDER feels like a safer play in what could end up being a close game.
