Damien Harris and the Patriots are solid home favorites vs the Jets in Week 7 NFL betting odds.

Well-Rested Jets Fishing For An Upset Over Patriots

After nearly escaping with an upset victory over the Dallas Cowboys, the New England Patriots (2-4 SU, 2-4 ATS) must quickly shift their focus to the New York Jets (1-4, 1-4). There are few bounce-back matchups in the league better than hosting the Jets, though they will be a well-rested side after a Week 6 bye following their trip to London.

Sportsbook Odds Analysis

Things did not go particularly well for the Jets when these teams clashed in Week 2 at MetLife Stadium, with the Patriots claiming a 25-6 victory. It’s hard to imagine circumstances in which the Jets produce better results on the road. Approaching a -7 point spread in favor of the Patriots with some caution is highly advised. Although there have been encouraging signs the last two weeks, their offense is not known for its explosiveness. Nonetheless, they blew the Jets away only five weeks ago.

New York News & Notes

The Jets came extremely close to leaving London with a positive result and looked like a much-improved team in Weeks 4 and 5.

A Week 6 bye for the Jets has definitely represented a double-edged sword. On one hand, they got a chance to rest up, nurse injuries and extensively plan for the Patriots. However, the break could also have halted any momentum just as the team appeared to be coming together and looking like a cohesive unit.

There’s a great chance that we’ll get the same Jets that showed up during the first three weeks of the season.

New England News & Notes

The Patriots have pushed the Buccaneers and Cowboys, two excellent football teams, to the brink this season.

The campaign to date has gone as many predicted. The Patriots remain a very well-coached team with tons of experience. But the lack of quality at wide receiver is a growing concern, though Mac Jones has done an admirable job as a rookie quarterback given the circumstances.

Damien Harris is fresh off his best performance of the season and he’ll be looking to keep the momentum going against a poor New York defense.

New England’s defense has been its most glaring concern. They limited the Jets to six points last time out, however, and will look to have a similar showing this week.

How New York Will Cover

Several offensive units have found success scoring against the Patriots this season. If the Jets can exploit the same weakness other teams have, they might have a chance to keep this game within one score. The good news is they had a ton of time to prepare for this one on their bye week.

How New England Will Cover

The Patriots will aim to use home-field advantage to make this more than a one-score game. It’s worth noting the only game this season in which the Patriots scored significantly more points than their opponents came in Week 2 against the Jets. This will be a get-right matchup for the Patriots.
